Not OP but I’m replying anyway with the hope that there may now be a workaround that I’m not aware of. My initial issue was that the Google Home app no longer worked at the login screen so I couldn’t control my lights without unlocking my phone but I believe they fixed that.

Currently the deal breaker is the fact that we apparently can’t use Google Wallet on Graphene so I’d have to start carrying my physical wallet again.

I thought since I’m already switching away from Google, I could also move away from Microsoft, but whatever I try, I can’t find a replacement for To Do. We have family accounts with mailbox.org, where we can share task lists/folders, but I can’t get the PWA to send me push notifications. I can import my task folders via DAVx5, but CalDAV doesn’t work with shared folders, so I only get my personal tasks. And this is the same for all tools - either use CalDAV (no shared lists) or a web interface (no notifications). I’ve been running in circles for days and I’m very frustrated by now.

Did you enable push notifications on your browser and/or try a different browser? I ran into a similar problem when I started using PWAs because I disabled notifications a long time ago because why would I want my browser to notify me but I forgot that PWAs ARE the browser. You’ll also want to check if it is an actual PWA or just saved as a bookmark on the home screen. Try deleting it and then saving it again and noting if it asks to install or not. If not there may be a more specific URL to use as a PWA. You may have to have Play Services on for notifications, use an alternative, or give the browser unrestricted battery.

Also, we sometimes have to do what we have to do. I redownloaded Snapchat solely for my sister because she is busy with her many kids and is used to sending pics/videos of them to multiple people at once and can’t be bothered to move to Signal. And that’s not a problem with Graphene, you’re just having trouble completely detaching from big tech. You’re not alone in that. Don’t get discouraged though, it’s a journey, not a destination.

I enables push notifications and unrestricted battery usage for Google Play Services and multiple browsers which I tested. I always used “install” to create the PWA. Nothing works and I still don’t know if it’s me or the stupid website/PWA.

You have to enable network, notifications, and unrestricted battery for both Play Services & Play Store (even if you don’t use it), and Play Services Framework if that installed alongside the other two (usually on older phones).

Did you install Play Services before the first time you launched the browser? If not or you’re not sure, uninstall and reinstall the browser.
