I signed up for the wait list for the Steam controller when it was released, but hadn’t heard anything since. When getting on the list for the Frame last night, I thought to check on the controller, and it just gave me a link to get on the list again.
‘That’s odd’ I thought, so I went back through my email and lo and behold, there was an email on the 7th of July that I’d missed. Bugger.
I got on to support to ask if I could get my request reinstated it or whether I’d have to start over. They got back to me saying that as a courtesy, they’d re-initiate my request, but I’d have to wait until the next release. ‘Fair enough’, I though, and resigned myself to waiting.
Cue to a couple of hours later, and I get the email to confirm my purchase. Sold! Should be here in a week or two.
Well done, Steam support.
That’s quite fortunate! I hope you enjoy your controller; I’m really liking mine.
Protip: you can make custom radial menus for the track pads that you can assign to different button presses, and set different icons for each. It really helps in games like Final Fantasy 14 and Elite Dangerous which have a ton of different inputs that you can’t normally assign on a controller.
Cool. Good to know. It’d be nice to be able to play Elite: Dangerous in VR with a controller a bit more easily.
steam support is the kind of customer service we need, but dont deserve 🥀
Unless you use an email provider they don’t recognize and refuse to update it.
I had no problems using my own domain.
is this referring to something?
Steam support.
I had to make a hotmail account because they swore my personal email was a “throwaway” acount and refused to use it.
I mean, what kind of derp is that?
You have an account with nearly two thousand games on it you don’t use a spam service for recovery.
And if a “free” email from Be Evil, Inc. and Microslop counts for recovery damn near anything should.
Lol. Like Hotmail isn’t a throwaway account. That’s the only reason I ever had one - to catch spam if I had to use one for some dodgy website.
Same here, mine came ten days ago and I didn’t see it.
They should also give you a notification in Steam. I would’ve spotted that.
I wasn’t paying close attention, since my estimated availability date was December. Oh well. Now it says 2027. I’ll make sure to check more often anyway.
*edit: Oh damn, I should have read your entire message, lol. Maybe I can just get mine, too.
It’s amazing what you can get if you ask nicely.
Unfortunately, same. Got the email back in June, apparently.
Get on to support. It worked for me.
