I think the target audience of this is the people who wouldn’t know how to add a list to ublock let alone having a DNS filter service or people just jumping back into piracy but yea your point stands.

Nice found them. Thanks.
Yea for my liking MeGusta is really low bitrate.
Yea that was very unclear to me that it was already addressed.
As part of Gen Z I do not approve this message. When I was young I would stream movies from stream sites (to be fair I had no money to have VPN to torrent etc) but I have not visited one of those for like 5 years now since I learned more. Now not all gen Z is tech smart I see it in my friends and family members close to me age who are… Dumb and worse they don’t care to get better and think it’s fine and that is what the problem is imo.
Also that fella “kontrast” (I think his name is)stoped uploading his X265 tv show packs :(. I have yet to find another uploader that does something similar.
I had a support ticket with them and they told me it was hardware failure. I’m not sure right now but I know It is and was raid 5.
Same about 6 months ago maybe. Didn’t burn down but my raid system corrupted everything if it losses power while reading and writing… It’s now rebuilt fully and on a UPS.
Edit the biggest L was the stuff that was not pirated on it like video game save files pictures, documents, etc
For clarity only reason I have kept doing this is my understanding of how a complaint would be filed to me. Since Soulseek is “peer-to-peer” in the sense that you’re connecting from one peer to another peer directly. There is little chance of a copyright trolls to scan for your IP address unlike joining a torrent tracker where they can write down all IP they see in that swarm. If I am completely off please let me know lol
I have used soulseek (nicotine) for awhile now with no VPN and have not gotten a ISP letter or anything for around a year now (but this is anecdotal and others could vary). It would probably be safer to do with VPN but here we are. As for the port openings it does have to do with sharing and being able to browse others lists. some users only allow downloads and such if you are also sharing files but depending on music you will find someone. I have been meaning to move to slskd for awhile now
Ok to be honest I don’t know how to get to the forums… Thanks
Not gonna lie… That little link is funny to me.
There is also a docker version https://github.com/slskd/slskd
They are rebranding to a new website it is faster imo I don’t like how when u unzip the files there is no parent folder however you have to make that.
Edit: New site https://lucida.to/
The US (for me) does as well but the only way I believe they can know if you are sharing files are if they search for those same files go to your profile and then get the IP from there. So it is possible but in my experience has not happened others experience may vary.
I mostly look the reddits or here on Lemmy communitys of the genre I like. I also look at what bands tour with who and give there songs a listen.
But I have also came across a website called coreradio(.)online and it has been great for piracy and discovery of that genre (metalcore and other metals/rock ) as well. No idea if there are similar sites out there for other genres.
I have been sharing with no VPN so far as I currently can not port forward with my VPN. As for for sharing with no open ports the way I understand it is you might be able to share sometimes but if someone wants to view all your shares etc they can not communicate with you. Could be wrong. Ngl there are tons of leaches on SLSK over the past couple of months.
No idea who this is but actually a great video.
Normal steam behavior as far as I know. Steam achievements often pop when you connect however. *For the 3 or so games I have tried.
I feel exactly the same. Tgx was good for a while but it is increasingly slow to load (at least its not down for maintenance weekly), missing indexed torrents or whatever the terminology is. And there is just a general decrease in torrents available to the public.
