you’ll also want mkvnix tool as well to edit the mkvs. you are going down the hole.
are you using subtitle edit to generate the subtitle (srt) files? that’s what i use, it’s not horrible… but work.
Ii had stability issues related to Wi-Fi on Ubuntu, which i could not explain, while debian was fine. Something funny in the Ubuntu releases for me.
i just installed bazzite on an A6-6400k system and it works really well. i first installed Fedora, but an amount was missing to get my 1030 running for media decoding. Yeah this system should be sent to the grave, but it’s working and doing what i need.
I also run this on my daily laptop and works very nice.

One vote for Debian.
I switched from Aurora to Bazzite. Call me crazy, but bazzite feels like a smoother experience on my laptop. I can’t exactly pin done the difference, but its there. It could also just be some update that went out after i picked up Bazzite.
Isn’t that what happened to the schools during COVID or something with one of the programs. I forget…
Giving me something to do with my current kindle. I wasn’t sure how to load to it my downloaded books, so I’ve been suffering on my phone, but hopefully this helps me out a bunch. Thanks. This is a rabbit hole I never knew existed.
This court case is why the US government needed to invest billions into AI. Cover the legal fees. /s
I want physical media that is not sold on optical disks. Sell me content on SD cards for example.
Bottles was having the same issue. I was attempting to install SimTower off the CD copy I have and they all were having issues running. I believe it’s a permissions issue that I could figure out, but not sure. After spending hours i went down the distro route and it worked perfectly the first time. Was able to run the installation for the game and launch it from wine.
What Linux distro are you using? I’m on Aurora and wine doesn’t really work unless you install it from the distrobox.
I have a really hard time getting Aurora working the way all my other Linux devices so that are running some form of Ubuntu (Mate or Bodhi). With that said, it’s been very stable and i like not being interrupted with packages to install while working on things…
Mixed bag review. I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
With Aurora, I was unable to get winehq working without installing it from a distrobox instead. I can now play SimTower on my Linux PC.
I avoided transcoding by making sure to only host videos compatible with all clients. Also, I will spend the time to reencode codes that are too large for my taste. Which happens after a rip of uhd disks.
H265 with slow preset really works wonders for non-grainy film. AV1 is what you have to use when there is grain.
Tailscale is what I do. If you make an exit nice they can forever stay on your VPN… I think…
Yep, maybe wispersync integration will happen soon and help out. A time killer yep. I jave tried downloading subtitles from the internet, but hit or miss on getting it to sync.
