yeah but there’s also been plenty of times i’ve been just screwed on windows where linux will let me just go fix it myself, so that’s still “linux is the best thing ever” for me.

not even particularly confusing, it’s just two inexperienced users being inexperienced. it seems like it’s only confusing people that know OpenOffice and LibreOffice have OS X versions but somehow don’t know that not everyone knows what they’re doing.

ideally you’d setup wireguard (or whatever) for them to use so you’re not just opening ports to the entire internet. i use jellyfin and like it a lot, but the real major issue with jellyfin is explaining to your elderly mother how to setup and use wireguard on her smart tv.
