I have my update stuff put into a simple bash script that includes flatpak so that gets taken care of.

It still restarts and does the whole “Updating, please do not turn off your computer” screen. Does dnf take care of that all? Is it even necessary to restart?

I had some weird issues with my 3080 Ti on Fedora 41 and 42 and have recently switched to a 9070 XT.
Most games ran fine, but other programs acted strange while games were open. Space Engineers, Escape from Tarkov, and a couple other titles wouldn’t allow me to use other programs. The cursor would stay the same as in-game, even when alt-tabbed, and the Discord UI would become unresponsive.
I had several strange issues with my monitor flickering that didn’t resolve until I uninstalled and reinstalled my drivers.
I had a horrible issue with Minecraft and other OpenGL games that caused a strobing white screen while playing. I forgot how I resolved that one.
I had to reinstall drivers several times. I don’t know how much of it was self-inflicted or just how it goes on Linux.
None of these issues have come up while on my 9070 XT.

If you’re not opposed to doing it yourself, you can sign up for a free trial to Tidal and rip it.

I’ve never heard of xpipe until now - I just set it up and this is amazing

Well, considering I could no longer boot into my system, I’d say it was not fine.

I had started with a full disk clone which is why I was careless with the restoration

To actually answer, I fucked up by running sudo rclone first to copy everything and it messed with permissions, so I nuked it and copied with dolphin.
I was just being lazy.

thinking process
what is that?

Well god damn, that fixed it. What an odd issue.
Thanks a ton.

I have only the discrete GPU - no integrated GPU or anything. Wouldn’t any process with a GUI need to utilize the GPU?

I’ll give the discord a try

Is that not normal?

But that’s the thing - it’s been a persistent issue over the past 4 drivers. Just a permanent stutter no matter what I’m doing.

Does it happen with all games or GL engagement, or just the heavier ones?
It’s just constant - the video I provided shows the UFO test. The stuttering is on the desktop.
What’s your memory util?
I don’t know what that is
Does your machine use swap when gaming?
No, 32 GB RAM. I rarely go above 40%.
Are you overclocking your memory or CPU freq?
No, using XMP settings
I haven’t had any issues with any of my games.
For anything not on steam, there’s bottles or lutris, both of which work amazingly well.

Sorry - I wasn’t clear. I can’t seem to join any servers. Some comments mention changing the default server to “hex41.de” so I changed that but I can’t connect.
Maybe it’s since been taken down or something.

I tried looking into this and I’m having trouble setting it up, although I’m on linux so that might be my doing.
I followed the guide on Darkmatters
