Devuan and Peppermint Devuan edition are good ones. These basically are Debian but you can use OpenRC.

I don’t recommend Alpine, it is a non-GNU Linux and was not developed for desktop/workstation usage, so you might encounter undocumented issues.

The closest thing to Artix is Gentoo, a DIY distro with OpenRC, but it is for the real geeks.

No one will use GNOME OS except for GNOME ecosystem devs. Even the DE itself has two long-term active forks and a flashback edition because virtually no one wants to use GNOME as is.

Same applies to KDE except it is accepted as is, but again, what’s the point of using it if you are not one of their devs? And why do we even need two KDE distros?

I wasn’t speaking yet of Aeon, this one seems more promising, but again, people who don’t want to bother themselves much just don’t use rolling release, it has always been for the fearless ones.

Yeah but GNOME OS and KDE Neon are built just to test new versions of KDE and GNOME, while COSMIC is basically battletested in Pop!_OS. GNOME OS is built from scratch and hardly is usable for normal people, and the other two are based on Ubuntu LTS, only their specific packages are rolling.

Not to be mean but atomic and arch are two opposite things and if one needs atomic then they hardly need arch and vice versa. You basically created endeavour with cosmic and flatpaks.

Cuz I like them. And many people do. They’re beautiful and have been around for decades, why deprecating them now?

The old machines I have are that old, that they barely get along with LXQt (X11 if I memory serves), and my main one can even stand KDE (with Wayland ofc)

There is no way to get a real screensaver work, prove me wrong. And no one cares if it is the protocol or the implementation. It just works worse than X11 on modest hardware, and people dislike it.

It was not truly ready for end users until the latest years but was shipped despite. It also broke some kinds (I mean a lot of) software, I cannot imagine how many lines of code had to be rewritten because of Wayland. And it also lacks screensavers. And is more resource-demanding.

You should probably check your system time in BIOS. It is a very common issue I have personally encountered.

Technically AOSP also runs a Linux kernel. Lineage and Graphene are like this only for compatibility reasons, no one stops them if they decide to fork. And AOSP itself is still not that bad though

Eliminating some obscure bugs from C code is not worth intruducing a lot of new bugs. GNU coreutils have been used and polished for so long, that it would be far more effective just to fix the issues as they reveal right in the original code. If rewriting removes one kind of bugs while introducing another - then what’s the whole point?

I cannot imagine obviously buggy code from 2020s being more secure than code that has been around since previous century. Again, even if Rust for real is a better solution for security reasons, the way it is being developed and shipped is not how one makes software more secure. Disregarding the license, uutils look like something pursuing hype, not strategical benefits.
