Yeah but you do backups right? Right?

The Department of Homeland Security was just a combination of existing federal bureaus into one entity. What you have to remember and what is noted in the 9-11 report and everyone should read the 9-11 report is that we had evidence of the attacks prior to them occurring, but the problem was inter-agency rivalries prevented the information getting to some central location where you can connect the dots.

Now it’s not to say that there wasn’t a lot of knee jerk authoritarian reaction to the attacks in the form of the patriot act, warrantless surveillance, legalized torture, and extraordinary rendition. Combining federal agencies into the department of homeland security by comparison seemed pretty mild at the time.

The audiobooks are amazing, super-talented narrator who does a while host of voices.

According to ChatGPT the Mint car is a Chevy Spark. And now I am thinking I should be driving a Chevy Spark if it is anywhere near as reliable and easy to use as Linux Mint.

I like GUIs but I also like automation. Give me a nice simple GUI but also give me a way to run from a bash shell so I can automate functions based on complex conditions and/or a schedule.

Bike riding, video games, wildlife photography, tech tinkering, cooking, baking, reading. Basically keep myself busy with stuff that is broadly non-self destructive.

I enjoy watching sports, but I do not obsess over it. I have a MythTV DVR setup to record OTA broadcasts. It records some matches, I watch those matches. I skip all the commercials and a lot of the boring bits TBH. Sometimes I go watch highlights on Youtube of my favorite teams.

I let my kids play on my profile, but my kids were already teens when I bought it. The main problem I ran into was when they were playing and I wanted to play online on my pc I had to ask them to go into offline mode. I buy games that they want on my account and they can play online the steamdeck or from their laptop with family sharing.

Be loved and respected by the people in my life.

Fair point. I have worn many hats through my IT career, I started out as a Windows NT admin back when it was cutting edge technology in the 90s. I fell in love with a text editor called Ultraedit that my org had a site license for. When I left that org after many years I missed Ultraedit and was delighted to find Notepad++ had most of features I loved. Now the course of my career has found me become a Linux admin and personal linux user for many years now. I have been using Notedpad-qq for years, but recently it seems to have gotten worse and I have had instances where crashes resulted in lost data. I liked the idea of having the same general UI and features as Notepad++ because I still need to use Windows at work. But I am reluctantly admitting maybe it is a time for a change.

Apologies for the digression, but I wanted to share some of the waypoints in my journey that influenced my personal choice.
