  • Literally and Crescendo are my vocabulary pet peeves. Both have stupidly evolved to include definitions that mean the exact opposite of their true meanings.

Literally is annoying, but Crescendo is impossible. That is a specific musical term with an unalterable meaning. It means a gradual increase in volume, but it has come to mean a climax. Something will be described as “it rose to a crescendo,” and that is simply wrong. Something can crescendo to a climax, but not the other way around. If you change it to mean the climax, you can’t crescendo to a crescendo, s what’s the word for gradually increasing the volume?

Besides, it’s a musical term, and musicians will define musical terms, not illiterate civilians.

And if Literally can also mean “similar to,” then what word can be used to literally mean Literally?

  • The record industry has always claimed that every pirated album is a lost sale, but that is t really true. Studies that have been commissioned by the record biz itself have shown that the biggest music PURCHASERS, are also big Pirates as well. These are people who spend every last cent on music, and still need more.

I generally use pirating to audition artists and albums I’m curious about. If I like them, I’ll buy their CDs, because I want the actual item, and I want to support the artist. But I can’t afford to buy random music just to see if I like it enough to financially support it.

Pirating is just the modern version of the radio.

  • I shattered my humerus (upper arm bone) badly, and needed major surgery, so I was in bad pain for a while, exacerbated by the fact that I’m a big whiney baby.

I absolutely refused any opiates for pain, knowing I’d get hooked, so I stuck with massive does of Advil, which worked okay. When I was near the end, almost out of it, I discovered that doctors were often recommending a combo of 1 Tylenol and 2 Advil for pain, claiming that the pain-killing power approached the level of an opiate, without any chance of addiction. I tried it, and the result was AMAZING! It really worked well. I wish I’d known about it when I first came out of surgery, instead of weeks later, when the pain had subsided for the most part.

Also, the Advil is processed by the kidneys, and the Tylenol is processed by the liver, so none of your organs are overtaxed. It’s still not a good idea for those who are taking blood thinners.

I’ve also noticed that Advil now sells their own combo with acetaminophen.

  • Become a tourist in your own town. Find out what the big attractions are, and visit them. People love in a city, and never visit the museums, parks, libraries, etc.

Or expand your music by getting into recording. You can get Digital Audio Workstation software for free (I like Reaper and Ableton), and start recording yourself playing and singing, and since it lets you overdub, you can do all the background vocals, and even the other instruments. The learning curve is steep, and it’s almost like learning an entirely new instrument, but it’s fascinating, challenging, and fun.

Or find other players, and put together a little band, just for fun.

  • The main issue is that these Parasites can’t hide their glee at replacing as many workers as possible, so they can keep all those paychecks as profit. They are pushing it hard, but we can all see that they don’t give a rats ass about it being better, or making life easier, it’s ONLY about how AI is going to boost profits through the stratosphere, and make them all Trillionaires.

And it’s OBVIOUS to EVERYBODY that’s the PRIMARY advantage of AI. When these jackals start extolling the great societal benefits at a graduation ceremony, it’s like the Groom telling his wife on the wedding night how fuckable all the bridesmaids were, and then wondering why his new Bride is pissed off at him.
