Yeah but Epstein’s friends are rich and have ready access to attorneys.
More evidence that our justice system is more about punishing the poor.

If you set up using compose and don’t have the version pinned:
dockee compose down && docker compose pull jellyfin && docker compose up -d
To paraphrase Nixon:
“When you’re a company, it’s not illegal.”
To paraphrase Trump:
“When you’re a company, they just let you do it.”
This is honestly the only reason to buy a gift card especially at Costco. They often sell gift cards for 20% off their face value.
These are all good points but the biggest reason I HATE gift cards is because they offer ZERO protection.
Buy something with a credit card and you often get double warranty protection included. That something gets damaged or stolen? Also protected.
Gift cards offer none of that. Neither does cash but at least I can use cash to pay off the credit card.
I get that a gift card is more personable and it earmarks the funds for a particular store. If you like gift cards, then cheers and go about your merry way.
I’ve emphatically told my loved ones that I never want a gift card. You want me to use the money somewhere specific? Just say so and I’ll do it.
But don’t give me a script that I can only use in one place and might lose.
People just seem to be more paranoid about downloading stuff not already installed on their devices.
I see this as a natural byproduct of Google, Apple, et al. “Walled Garden”
They want you to consume only from them and only what they approve of. Granted Apple is far more on the latter side than Google but even Google fought tooth and nail to keep Epic from having their own store.
I don’t interact much with people who are younger than me but I feel like the age of tinkering might not be as strong with them as it was for me. PCs were the predominant form factor and you could literally take it apart and put it back together with just a screwdriver. You can’t do that with laptops or phones at least not without a lot of other specialized tools. This isn’t their fault either since device manufacturers have really tried to make it difficult to do anything that they don’t control.
Hell chrome is the best example of this. Google, whose business is selling your personal data for ads, is preventing the use of ad blockers. Firefox is mostly developed by Mozilla with a small handful of volunteers. It’s already showing signs of enshittification. We don’t have a viable third option.
It will only be a matter of time before these tech companies start having brain drains due to their own greed.
They wanted free labor but own the changes.
They could have gotten free labor if they used a standard license like GPL or even MIT.
But nope. They were greedy.
Consent doesn’t matter to rich people. It’s not exclusive to Musk.
They probably wanted a completely virgin chain, one they had complete control over (socially anyway) so that they could see how it’s used and most importantly where the users come from.
I’m not opposed to a lemmy-based tracker but will admit I’ve never made one before.
I have extensive dev experience and would be willing to learn.
My constraints would be time honestly.
I’ve seen some arbitration agreements stating that you can’t collaborate with other customers who are affected by the same issue, requiring each customer to have a different attorney.
Some companies really want to make it impossible for you to win any significant damages against them.
At that point, they are just telling on themselves.
I think it should be whatever the age is to be able to work a job.
You pay taxes at 14 years old because your asshole of a governor got paid by the meat packing industry? You get to vote.
Their convoluted salary and options package was one of the driving reasons why I declined a job there.
Creative Commons-BY-NC would be better.
Ubuntu is a good idea to get the money for the new building
I really don’t know the architecture of fmovies but my guess is that it works similarly to sudo-lol but with specific providers instead of a long list of available providers.
Even still, I’ve wondered how those providers load new content since I’ve never seen a way for end users to upload new files.
Shows like Last Week Tonight get uploaded almost the same day.
Anyway, to answer your question, I think fmovies is back with their .lol tld though I’ve moved over to sudo.
There’s always going to be a replacement because clearly there’s a market for it. If only the people who actually hold the rights would realize that.
“Am I getting my value out of this subscription?”
If you want to pay for GamePass, Amazon Prime, Paramount, Peacock, Hulu, etc. then by all means do so.
But each renewal, you need to ask yourself, “Am I getting the value out of this subscription to warrant the price?”
Amazon Prime was a no starting two years ago.
Spotify premium was never valuable to me.
I do have a YNAB subscription but this is slowly moving towards a no as well.
I have Google One for drive/Gmail space but that’s about it.
I believe that there is a project that aims to do just this but I can’t remember its name.
This was true maybe 20 years ago.
I’ve been using Linux as my daily driver for a bit longer than that and it’s only been recently in the last year I’ve come across two issues that are preventing me from doing what I want.
Edit: now only one. I solved one of them just now.
I was just thinking this. If you’re dev, being on pure Linux makes a ton of sense. But if you’re a gamer, Windows is still your best option.
