I said this because even if the Rust version (not edition) is one singular release old, you miss out on features. I tried Rustc and Cargo through Nixpkgs and I reverted back to Rustup just because I wanted to use std::io::pipe() atm.

Rustup is better and simpler to use.

DisplayPort as a standard is free of charge and better in every way. AFAIK, it can handle multiple 8K monitors without issues provided your GPU is strong enough.
