I don’t think Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, whatever is “ready yet” either. operating systems are always in development. There are things I can do on my linux machine that I can’t do on my windows machine, and vice versa.

Well if the exe was in a bottle it would be dangerous.
It provides easy access to search. I understand now though why you wouldn’t want it to open automatically (if you have startup programs you want to see instead).
Why wouldn’t you want the overview at startup?
Gnome devs are UX design geniuses. They made a desktop environment that is highly suitable for both touch and desktop usage (Windows wasn’t successful with that goal). It’s also beginner-friendly without being cartoonish like Windows XP.
