Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•"Pretend" there are no required qualifications or legal and ethical restrictions to becoming the president of the US, who would you like to see in office?
9·1 month agoHow about Jon Bon Jovi?
During COVID he spent his days ladling soup in his soup kitchen.
He knows fame and fortune so that won’t be new to him
Last year in September he helped someone not jump off a bridge.
Has been married to the same person since 1989 and they were highschool sweet hearts
“On December 15, 2010, Bon Jovi was appointed by then U.S. president Barack Obama to the White House Council for Community Solutions.”
So he knows some things
He now has 3 soup kitchen’s.
Seems like someone that would do some good even if didn’t exactly meet your qualifications
As a Walken fanboy, this rings a loud bell for me

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Did anyone else not even know who Charlie Kirk was!?
4·2 months agoI don’t think they are grasping at all, they are opportunists and will use any possible exploitation that that can see or invent.

121·2 months agoOnly know him from the Jubilee videos where that have guests on and sit in a circle of 20 people with a different view point than the one in the middle.
He came off as the shamelessly smarmy, creepy, dishonest, and that first impression never got any better any of the few times his videos came up in my feed.
Whomever shot him has made the world a better place. Fuck Charlie Kirk and everyone like him

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•What do you think about the fact that Google Pixel phones are being confiscated in Spain if they have GrapheneOS installed?
2·2 months agoI’m similar but I don’t like the idea of someone swiping my phone and maybe being able to get into my payment apps so while I use online banking, I don’t let it save my login information. Is kind of a birch to have to log in everytime, but makes me feel safer
Did. It’s long gone
Was a modified circlemud. Mostly fantasy. Was a mish mash of popular fantasy worlds. Feist, Tolkien, various DnD settings, letter on they tried to go away from fandom content.
Had any 29 classes, could “remort” keeping 15% of your skills. And had other benefits such as lowering some level requirements here and there.
Was riftsmud.net:4000 originally but they ended up having to move a could times.
About 40 players at peak times, maybe 100 players altogether that played any amount
Ohhh! I can absolutely relate to this as well! Using a zmud client to play games on. which is probably not much different, looking, than a terminal anyways
Care to explain to an uninitiated?

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Is the Steam Deck still worth it in 2025? I'd argue yes — but with caveats
2·3 months agoThe wait for the steam deck 3 will be painful though
I used to set default webpages on display models in stores to direct competitors sites.

Linux@programming.dev•Linus Torvalds Rejects RISC-V Changes For Linux 6.17: "Garbage"
4·3 months agoAlso that it was requested earky if it was going to be submitted.
Seems like Linus is accusing them of doing it last minute because they wanted to take advantage of him being busy as an intentional strategy, as he said and they didn’t even submit a good offering.
That last bit kind of sounds up that he might have accepted in spite of his difficulty due to travel, but they also fucked that up and wasted a whole lot of effort.
This really seems like a public lesson for everyone else using this submission as an example of what he does not want other people to do and then proceeds to explain exactly how he feels about it.
It’s definitely a rant, did seem like it had a purpose to it beyond him just letting out a rant
Make her watch something absolutely disgusting that no one should ever watch without knowing what they are getting themselves into >!2 girls 1 cup!< and ask her if she would ever use that glass again to eat out of.
And that now that’s all you can’t think about when you use anything that comes out if the dishwasher
Wrong isn’t the word ide use use, but it’s good to understand how everything works for when you can’t get by with just a push.
The suction force is noticeably stronger when you get the knack of it. If you start with a push you are more likely to compact the clog and make it more difficult to unstick. Try starting with a good strong pull. My rule of thumb is is it’s slowly draining, I be very careful not to send a push down when first putting the plunger in sand getting the air out of the cup
It’s again not wrong, and depending on what went down there, it might need that push to break it free, but best practices makes your life easier when it matters, not when it doesn’t.
Prepare for the worst type thing.
Other note, a common problem people have seems to be not having enough water in the bowl for the plunger to be doing much good. You can just add it from a sink if you don’t want to risk a full flush(or just don’t know the toilets flush quantities) and don’t want to risk overflow

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What movie did you see too young that still haunts you to this day?
1·4 months agoTrue, but he did have a lot of involvement, his wife told him kubric isn’t allowed in the bedroom anymore because spielberg apparently had a fax machine in the bedroom and Stanley being Stanley would non stop message with new ideas, directions for the project.
That was when Spielberg stopped being involved with the project until years later
By hand. I cannot manage to load a dishwasher without being worried about everything in the top rack breaking.
And I hate having to dry them because there is no reasonable way to load cups and bowls without it pooling on the bottom.
Drives me insane
