Such a list already exists!
Edit: i read the comment wrong, this is kind of the opposite list lmao. But it’s still useful so imma leave the comment up

And it wrecks the environment, and it stunts the user’s intelligence without actually being able to do anything truly original or novel, and it makes worse, buggier, less secure, less maintainable software. The list goes on and on
If you’ve got a 9th gen i5 the iGPU is going to be 50-100% faster than that GT710 for far less power, I’d swap to it either way

Mine is a half filled 10 inch rack with a spaghetti mess of cables coming out of the back lol. I used to have a fairly robust setup but had to downsize. Now it’s one lenovo m75q-1 running a ryzen 3 pro with 32 GB of ECC, and two hard drives connected over individual USB adapters in a ZFS mirror lmao. Networking is a GL.iNet router with OpenWRT and a basic 5 port switch. Much more energy efficient than my old setup with two raidz2 pools connected properly via sata but definitely less redundant and on a much less powerful base, but i take backups and it’s enough power for my services so 🤷🏻 maybe one day I’ll add another tiny PC node and get my redundancy back that way

I think it’s a pun about “stables”
Im not saying they’re equivalent, just saying why people might call vaxry a nazi. I’m not using that terminology myself, I’d say he’s somebody who is way too cozy with bigots for me to feel comfortable in that community or the things they touch. But i get where people are coming from, whether somebody says that he’s nazi adjacent or whatever they’re generally conveying the same idea in harsher terms. I’m glad they’re cleaning up their act with a CoC though, I really liked the hyprland experience when I used it, and it would be a net benefit for everybody if they made the ecosystem around it welcoming and safe for all stripes of people. But that trust takes time and active showing of good faith to build
Ok so you’re arguing an entirely different point than what this comment chain was about lmao.
Mostly because the dev has fostered a community that is aggressively bigoted and not only refuses to do anything about it but defends it and participates in the hate. Primarily against trans people but they’ve had plenty of other controversies from their discords and forums. More than just “being an asshole”
The core of Docker is called Moby, which is open source on GitHub. So are docker-cli and compose

LLMs already tend to be the average predicted output for a given input; training on LLM data makes this worse and causes them to become less varied, less dynamic, more towards the mean generated by previous models, and more likely to spit out hallucinations

Put nix flake update on the left side though lol, shit will rebuild your whole system for one minor version bump

Tailscale is pretty straightforward because they have a config for it baked in, pretty sure it’s just services.tailscale.enable = true. But if you use it with the operator=$USER setting, note that you still need to run tailscale with sudo for your initial login before that works properly
JJ lacks too many features compared to git, it’s easier to use but just less powerful. I think Helix and Zellij are good for that “batteries included” approach, but neovim and tmux are more powerful and allow much more customization IMO so those tools don’t displace them for me. I think shell choices are less impactful, if you’re writing scripts 90% of the time it’ll have to be bash anyway, use what you like for the interactive shell though.

This whole community is running in <8 GB of RAM? 🤯 love the work y’all do, keep it up!
FOSS and copyleft: I want software built for the good of the public, with good intentions. Anything with corporate licensing us off the table, and ideally so are non-copyleft open source programs as corporations will hijack them for their benefit and privatization.
UNIX Like: It is my preferred workflow for development and everyday use. The windows paradigm is messy, convoluted, and inconsistent by comparison.
Fast, free, customizable: all nice to haves connected to the big two above

Lenovo is the largest laptop manufacturer in the world by market share, and they’ve offered Linux preinstalled on many laptops and desktops for at least a decade

Why is Rust your problem here? It’s a fantastic language. The issue is licensing

You’re right I misread the comment when I responded, mea culpa
Woah I have the same laptop stand arm at work
