Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do the vast majority of people on Lemmy seem to HATE AI?
221·1 month agoMe, personally, a couple of reasons:
Without wanting to sound like a pretentious twat I think art made without a soul is the antithesis of art.
People ask dumb questions that a quick web search would answer.
The blurring between what is real and what isn’t.
Capitalism suggesting that there might only be two or three “non-human entities” controlling the entire internet soon.
The fear of another economic bubble.
It making people stupider.
The fokken poes that is an anagram of my user name being involved. Plus all the other bros too.
Fear of something that has the power to potentially go beyond thought.
The absolute ease of facilitating surveillance.
Terminator franchise
Etc

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Ex-fascists of lemmy, what made you escape the alt-right pipeline?
191·1 month agoA guy I worked with was far-right, but drew the line at violence, so not a fascist, per se.
All that fucker needed to cure himself was a passport and to get out of his ends. Soon realised that the vast majority of humans are all after the same basic needs and we have more in common than we don’t.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What dead car brand would you want to bring back and why?
4·3 months agoFancy a pick-up truck? I saw this abomination / Chad-Wagon a few years ago:

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are your underrated/sleeper picks for gay music video night?
2·5 months agoThere’s this absolute banger you could give a listen.
My dryer only has a low and a high setting and the length of time is human dictated.
I dry clean any really good clothing I own.
If I dry my clothes on high they are shrunk and sometimes ruined in other ways too.
Almost everything I own can survive the low setting with no noticeable negatives.
Much as a 12oz steak won’t weigh exactly twelve ounces when served to you after cooking them a 2x4 piece of wood was nominally that measurement prior to the kiln drying process.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which current musician/band that IS popular deserves their popularity because of their talent and songwriting?
5·1 year agoShout out to Ren whom I genuinely believe to be a generational talent - someone who has the potential to alter the course and content of popular music going forward.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How level is "level" to the naked human eye?
6·1 year agoIf everything else is wonky then “level” looks wrong.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the best way of dealing with Maga hatred, white power, genocide denial and other things you see a Lemmy user espousing?
2·1 year agoThat’s, uh, not really left leaning… is it?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If any of the languages you know is spoken in more than one region (ex: European vs Brazilian Portuguese), what version of the language do you speak?
1·1 year agoI speak a bit of Spain Spanish, but with an Andalusian / Canary Island accent and grammar. The biggest problem you’ll probably find is that exactly the same word can have different meanings in different parts of the world.
I also speak some French, poorly. No idea with what accent.
I personally would not hesitate to recommend the Michel Thomas language courses. I learned more in twelve hours then I did in three years at school.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•DAE feel like DuckDuckGo is now just as good as google for the vast majority of searches?
5·1 year agoI’ve been online for almost thirty years and have never - knowingly - seen “dae” as an abbreviation.

13·1 year agoNever, ever, under any circumstances, think that you’ve finally done everything that needs doing.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•It is always morally acceptable to pirate things made by giant corporationsEnglish
11·2 years agoIt literally depends on your morals… it’s a question only you can answer.
I thought this was gonna be a deep philosophical question… but then read past the first sentence.

333·2 years agoI’ve enjoyed my time talking with you and getting to understand how you see the world and, although I don’t agree with you, I’m glad to have had this exchange of opinions and will now reflect upon what I’ve learned.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Distro suggestions for a dumb-dumb who only knows linux through meme osmosis
10·2 years agoI use my laptop as a tool - no real idea how it works. If Linux nerds are mechanics then I’m just a taxi driver. Use mint. I do. Zero regrets. Caveman compatible.

A lot of people find the .ml domain to be a red flag. (See what I did there?)
The .ml stands for Marxist Leninist and many users from the domain are active communists.
Two of them (?) are the people who make Lemmy. I’d like to thank them.
Long and short of it is that you may be blocked by instances and/or users simply because off being on .ml
It’s a bit sad and a bit complicated, to be honest.
I personally love wandering over to other people’s instances and having a look around. As long as your not combative nor offensive most places here are quite welcoming.
Enjoy.
