Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Almost a week here in lemmy and I still don't know how instances work?
7·6 months agoHello from Lemmy.ml!
We’re seeing each other’s content even though we’re using different websites and different apps. That’s the fediverse for ya!
Sorry but I like the drip
ew /s but I feel gross even writing that
- I can afford good clothes now
- High quality clothes last a long time
- Having a Ubuntu shirt is a good conversation starter
- I would rather have a Tux logo than a Nike one
- Giving 5$ to KDE makes gives me the false sense of real contribution to the project

Linux@lemmy.ml•Fedora's FESCo To Decide Whether To Replace Upstream X.Org Server With XLibre Fork
73·7 months agoFrom what I understand, xorg has fundamental security flaws. How will they remedy this?
They won’t. Don’t download random shit and if you’re worried, run it in Flatpak
What happens when the Linux kernel drops support for xorg? Do they intend to fork an older version of the kernel in order to keep support?
Not really possible, since X11 is only built on top of the kernel’s graphical interface (same as Wayland). Even if that wasn’t the case, the kernel doesn’t delete any code that anybody uses (that’s why 30 year old programs still run)

Linux@lemmy.ml•Fedora's FESCo To Decide Whether To Replace Upstream X.Org Server With XLibre Fork
10·7 months agoThe first comment on the request
For the sake of all of our sanity, I’d really appreciate if FESCo could decide on this one really quickly (e.g. putting out a statement) and avoid what could be a most unpleasant flame-fest on this mailing list.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why don't communist movements focus on creating and nurturing employee owned businesses?
18·8 months agoThe idea for a lot of communist ideologists is we don’t need these hyper competitive corporations. The end goal isn’t “higher GDP” (or more salary), it’s “better quality of life”. I think most unions are like that.
You can dual boot it

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Bad film with amazing premise and mediocre execution that you can't stop thinking about?
13·9 months agoWhat was that anime where you wear a VR headset and if you die in-game, you die in real life?
Ya that one
Assuming this is real, you can potentially get quite a bit of money off this. Talk to an employment lawyer for free consultation and see if you can get terminated for not following this procedure. You’ll need to document evidence of the company pressuring you to use the app.
It doesn’t even have to be illegal for this to work. It only has to be unreasonably outside your job responsibilities.

I knew they were finding FEX… But for a decade!? Holy
