Romaji won’t get you far, as you’ll essentially be illiterate. When you’ve learned Kana and some Kanji, sentences also become way easier to decipher as you’ll see the difference between particles, nouns, conjugations at a glance, whereas it’ll look like a complicated mess in Romaji. Learning Kanji is also super useful, as you’ll be able to have a very good guess at a word’s meaning and pronunciation without having learned that particular word before. I’d say spending a year or so on just learning Kanji really made the biggest difference for my ability to understand Japanese. As a bonus, it’s also a great starting point for learning Chinese. So I agree, if you want to go anywhere beyond learning stuff like “Arigatou Gozaimasu”, you should stop relying on Romaji as soon as possible.

It’s hard to say, but at least before the component shortages, I would have expected the Frame to be the more expensive device. After all, it has 2 included controllers, displays, batteries, tracking cameras etc. But maybe the lower memory and storage (if you go for the 256GB) along with its mobile SoC might help reduce the effects of the component crisis somewhat. I don’t expect it to be below 1k€ though, personally.

It’s obviously not Valve’s fault but man, that’s expensive. Wasn’t planning on getting one anyway, but it certainly makes me worried about what the Frame may cost.

Do you use a configuration that mixes gamepad with mouse or keyboard input, like “Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad” or something like that? Some games can’t handle those configurations, causing some strange behaviours.

So with a similar distance, my controller fluctuates between “ok” and “weak” reported connection strength. However, I haven’t experienced it ever dropping or doubling an input, so I don’t think that part is normal behaviour. Can even use it from the next room, with a solid wall in-between.

Have you tried different USB ports? My controller initially had some (different) issues when the puck was in the “wrong” USB port.

Yeah, probably something like that. The controller was not on or connected at that point though, so it seems like even the puck itself might advertise itself as a keyboard.
