So with a similar distance, my controller fluctuates between “ok” and “weak” reported connection strength. However, I haven’t experienced it ever dropping or doubling an input, so I don’t think that part is normal behaviour. Can even use it from the next room, with a solid wall in-between.
Have you tried different USB ports? My controller initially had some (different) issues when the puck was in the “wrong” USB port.
Yeah, probably something like that. The controller was not on or connected at that point though, so it seems like even the puck itself might advertise itself as a keyboard.
I believe it’s X11 right now, but about to switch to Wayland with the next major update.
There’s definitely something weird going on with the puck. No drive issues for me so far, but I can’t control the boot selection in the GNU GRUB at all when it’s plugged in.
Depends on whether they would work by actually moving me through space (using a wormhole or something) or by disintegrating me at point A and creating a copy at point B. In the latter case, I probably wouldn’t use them.

Ah, is it? I know that’s the case on Steam Deck, but it doesn’t seem to work on the old Steam Controller (just tried it) and I haven’t seen any confirmation by reviewers that the new controller has this function.
Well, at the end of the day it still has a bit of a killer feature that other controllers don’t: the touchpads. If I buy it, it’ll be my secondary controller for playing FPS, CRPGs etc on my projector.
The fact that this isn’t a new thing doesn’t mean that it’s a good thing. Especially since nowadays there are good third-party controllers with remappable buttons that can also switch to a KB/M functionality at the push of a button. Also, I paid 5,50€ for my brand new original Steam Controller, so Valve kinda has to convince me to spend about 18 times that. I don’t know if this is a dealbreaker for me, but I’d definitely consider it “not great”.
It should really come with an XInput mode. That’s pretty much a basic feature for any PC controller.
Almost certainly not natively. It might have a fallback to an XInput mode, in which case it could work with an adapter (but without the back buttons, gyro etc).

It could be fixable, only way to find out is opening it up. I’d first try reseating all the ribbon cables, as one of them might have come loose because of the drop. Otherwise, if you can identify any damaged parts, you can get replacements for most of them and replacing them is pretty doable. If you can’t find any physical damage, your best option is probably to send it in.

That has certainly been the case in some places, though by no means all of them. Enforcement is also a separate issue to the law itself.
But to provide some maybe better examples, do laws that enshrine workers’ rights to form a union only serve to benefit the rich? Laws that limit donations to political parties? I really don’t think you can make that argument for all laws.
Do you use a configuration that mixes gamepad with mouse or keyboard input, like “Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad” or something like that? Some games can’t handle those configurations, causing some strange behaviours.
