Don’t say the big R-word or they’ll remove your post. That’d be POLITICS! Even if it is directly related to what you’re talking about.

It certainly looks that way.

Counter argument: The maintainers could “easily” relocate to a country that is not currently conducting an invasion to enlarge its territory.

Is the megathread outdated? It has entries that both don’t work anymore and were already removed in earlier versions.

In Germany, those letters come with a fine, which they can sue you over, if you don’t pay.

Honestly as a German, torrenting seems to be way too risky. Internet providers will immediately cave when they are contacted about an IP adress they control and there are multiple law firms whose only business model seems to be sending out c&d letters.

Depending on where you’ll live exactly, look up the local train and bus operator. If you’re in a city, chances are, you won’t even need a car most of the time.
Also get ready to install a different suite of apps. WhatsApp is big in europe, although Signal is obviously preferable when possible.
How to play Ubisoft games without the Ubisoft Launcher:
Step 1) If you’re an EU citizen, sign this petition: https://eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public/#/screen/home
If you are not in the EU, you can check if there are any other initiatives for your country here: https://www.stopkillinggames.com/
Step 2) (Due to insurmountable pressure, which you definitely did your part in adding to, video games are now forced to have an end-of-life plan.
Step 3) Wait until the game you want to play without the Ubi Launcher hits its end-of-life
Step 4) Do whatever is necessary to get the game playable again, which the newly introduced law guarantees is possible
Step 5) Enjoy your game without the Ubi launcher

Mbin. Compatible with both Lemmy and Mastodon. Con: Mbin is even more beta software than Lemmy is. Lots of missing QoL.

It really is a shame how spineless european politicians are, to not give Edward Snowden protection in europe. I bet a whole bunch of politicians are happy that he faded out of the collective mind, so they don’t have defend their indefensible standpoint of not giving Snowden amnesty.
It also sucks that there is no recourse against politicians that are clearly biased in their decisionmaking.

Louis Rossman made a video about this and especially where he quotes users from HackerNews hammers the point home for me. Firefox will be forced to adopt this “feature” if it ever becomes reality, as Chrome has overwhelming market share and the average user only cares that the site loads.
In 20 years then. All the custom-built software that is alteady 10 years out of date is built with Microsoft ptoducts as a hard requirement. Replacing that costs money. And if conservative governments hate one thing it’s spending money on something that won’t benefit their lobbyists.
