That’s hardly low tech, especially not the newer ones.

The expect lint is really great, been looking forward to that for a while.
Still waiting for more flexible const generics 🤞
I’d rather not do that :)
But you can see on SteamDB that it regularly goes on a -40% sale. I’d suggest you just put it on your wishlist and wait to get the email from Steam that it’s on sale 🙂. It hasn’t had a sale for a while now so probably won’t take long.
This looks good but I’m really not into horror at all - how much horror would you say this is?
The Talos Principle. It’s my all time favourite game. It has a sequel too that expands on the story.
It’s a puzzle game with a story that you discover while solving the puzzles. It’s kinda similar to Portal in that sense but instead of a focus on comedy, there’s a focus on philosophy. If you don’t mind reading some philosophical texts and being asked questions that will literally make you question your own value system, then definitely give it a shot.
CrossCode. Excellent fluid combat, fun puzzles and an interesting concept. But most of all, the story is great and the characters are really good. You just can’t help but love the characters the more you play I feel. Give it a shot, it’s good.
Enjoy it! I still can’t get over how good it is. Don’t even read the Steam description!
I think actually it might be a people problem. It shouldn’t be surprising that the people today that are still writing C rather than pushing for safe languages like Rust are quite hardcore about C and don’t give a damn about Rust. Any project still using C without any clear migration path will have such people I think.
I don’t know anything about that project but it seems it is still written in C, which means it may just have the same issues with pushback if Rust was introduced.
Maybe they should just ditch Linux and put all their efforts into a new thing like Redox or something, just out of spite.
But for some it is Mastodon or Mbin or PieFed or whatever. It shouldn’t be specific to lemmy.
It shouldn’t be lemmy specific. Lemmy is just one fediverse app.
Most anything that is US-centric, like US-only news or US-only politics. Mainly 2 reasons:
Thus I simply elect not to see those posts at all.
I also block most meme communities, since they otherwise fill the All feed. I can easily just go on incognito/log out to view the all feed with memes if I want a laugh (it’s not that I dislike memes in general).
For instance, it imply that some poor women are gonna take it regardless the consequence, just because it’s the best alternative to pay the bills.
How is this principally different from a poor person taking any shitty job to pay the bills? Like garbage collector or similarly unpleasant/disrespected jobs. The system always forces poor people to settle for shitty jobs. Sex work is not the issue there, the system is.
I once again encountered something where const generics for something other than the current supported types would be awesome but alas… Guess I’ll live with the inconvenience for now.
clean UI
I personally find their UI much cleaner than Gnome or cinnamon, but to each their own.
I really really hope this will lead to some major UX improvements as more “normal people” start trying to use Linux. Currently, it’s still often too complicated or cumbersome, if not downright buggy.
Example: I run Kubuntu and about 20% of the time when I plug in my external monitors, all my windows just crash. Things need to get to a state of “just working” much more often and in many more cases. I hope this surge of users will motivate people to move towards that or maybe bring in more contributors to advance that area.
Primitive Technology. Guy in the jungle builds houses and makes pottery from scratch and I mean from scratch. He even gets into forging a little bit, made a crude iron knife from ore he collected himself.
I’m curious just because I never use ropes or knots - what kind of work or activity do you do where you use that regularly?
