I try to, but I never actually reach unconsciousness until I inevitably get cold and pull the sheets or blanket over my body to some degree. I find that on particularly hot nights, it’s enough to drape a sheet over my waist, so long as my feet are outside.

Emulation@lemmy.ml•Best option/device to portably emulate SNES ROMs on my smart TV?
1·10 months agoHoly shit! What an absolute game-changer this was. I had no idea I could install Snes9x directly to my TV. Was a bit tricky getting it to recognize the ROM directory, but everything is running now. Just waiting on some wireless SNES controllers to come tomorrow. The old USB one I have has been difficult to get working. Any time I hit B or Start it opens YouTube. I’ve tried absolutely everything in the input config. I think it’s just old and wonky.
Anyway, thank you so much!

Emulation@lemmy.ml•Best option/device to portably emulate SNES ROMs on my smart TV?
1·10 months agoI appreciate it. I’m digging for a comprehensive step-by-step guide of some sort, but having someone available to contact with specifics will be super helpful. It doesn’t look much different than building a PC, which I’ve done many, many times.

Emulation@lemmy.ml•Best option/device to portably emulate SNES ROMs on my smart TV?
1·10 months agoI’m hoping to find somewhere that sells them pre-built, even if I still have to add the OS and emulator(s) myself. If I can score an already assembled Raspberry Pi either in or easy to put into one of those mini SNES cases, I will be over the moon.

Emulation@lemmy.ml•Best option/device to portably emulate SNES ROMs on my smart TV?
1·10 months agoI have a Hisense Google TV, so it may be on Android-based? I never considered looking for an emulator on the TV itself. Not sure how to add ROMs to my TV, but I can certainly store them on the flash drive I’ve been using for movies and shows.

Emulation@lemmy.ml•Best option/device to portably emulate SNES ROMs on my smart TV?
1·10 months agoAll of the SNES Classics I’ve found are either counterfeits, or listed on marketplace for $200, stating that they usually sell for $400, so I have to assume those are probably counterfeit as well. It sucks because I remember seeing one years back at a Bed Bath & Beyond of all places, but wasn’t financially stable enough at the time to sensibly buy one. Regretting that in 2025.
But an SNES Classic would be incredible, if only for the aesthetic and knowing it’s all going to work through HDMI.
I need to find a good guide for putting a Raspberry Pi together and setting it up for emulation.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you think Lemmy has a culture separate from Reddit or is it basically the same?

Why do they have to say the things? People don’t say the things here.

25·1 year agoMy kid is the only one in the cul-de-sac with Minecraft. We have quite the popular couch this month.
My sister-in-law has them all throughout her house and I’m just like, “You know you have a teenage boy, right? You ready for that?”
I swear “quietly” is the new “slams”.

I’m not Christian/religious at all, but I still have a very deep nostalgia for classic Christmas hymns like Silent Night, O Holy Night, etc. I remember sitting beside my tree as a child listening to our music lights playing midis of all of them. The lyrics can be discarded entirely.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you like most about the Christmas season?
4·1 year agoMainly the nostalgia of it. The familiar peaceful Christmas hymns and the way Christmas lights reflect against soft snow. My spirit drifts somewhere between commercial Christmas and Yule.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Favorite underrated / unrecognized TV show? I'll go first.
1·2 years agoIt’s been a few years but I don’t remember that at all, but I’d be interested to see if I’m bothered by it on a re-watch.

1·2 years agoThere’s a phenomenal French horror series on Netflix called Marianne that my wife and I enjoyed immensely. I don’t usually shoot for that particular brand of horror (demon/ghost), but Marianne is fucking excellent. Can’t recommend it enough.

135·2 years agoMy brother and I put a corked glass bottle down in an old defunct drainage pipe beneath my parents’ house. This pipe/canal is quite large and isn’t obstructed by the bottle, and the bottle can clearly be seen by peering into a hole in the cement of the basement storage room. Inside of that bottle is a carefully folder paper bearing on it a crude drawing of a cock and balls.

I’ve heard The Walking Dead comics are actually quite solid, and differ substantially from the TV series. I’d love to see a faithful animation adaptation done in comic-style art.
