Yeah but imagine reading about a new release of something and it appearing in your updates the same day. Shiny new software every day is addicting.

Did you even read the page you linked? It took less than 10 seconds to scroll down to the 'M’s.
I hear there’s some sort of AI mandate coming but no idea what it is yet. A few coworkers poke at chatGPT for basic coding questions. I will not use it for anything at this point. IT here is mostly useless contractors so they can’t tell what we’re doing and they can’t make us do anything. My direct reporting chain will back me working how I want to work so I don’t foresee any issues.
I fully recognize I’m in a highly privileged position that many others aren’t. But I’m going to take full advantage and keep my sanity.

Technology@beehaw.org•Mozilla’s Betrayal of Open Source: Google’s Gemini AI is Overwriting Volunteer Work on Support MozillaEnglish
21·3 months agoIt has to do mostly with overwriting community (human) translations with (worse) machine translations. Paying google to redo the work your community did in good faith but badly with tech that goes against everything they’ve been saying they believe in. Doesn’t really bode well for the “opt-in” and “ethical” LLM features they claim are coming.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which multiplayer story game do you recommend?English

And they’ve tied the dependency tree together such that you can’t disable them without entirely breaking updates.
