  • Last week. In an effort to de-google as much of my PC as I could the only chromium based browser I have is edge. I used librewolf for general browsing (unlock) and Firefox for porn (unlock and no script). Librewolf has known issues working with YouTube which will cause even the highest speed internet to have YouTube be choppy AF. So I used edge for YouTube. But there is a known big in edge that logs you out of everything when you close the browser. And after a dozen times of 2FA logging in I just said fuck it and changed my Gmail password…and can’t close edge of I want to continue to watch certain channels

  • I’ve actually been considering getting a mini-pc. My old setup at home used to be my main PC hooked up to my TVs in the living room with a wireless keyboard. Id do some low end gaming on it and mostly streaming. Im in process of selling that house and looking to go back into a more traditional setup, with my main PC In a den with actual monitors, but still want to consider the option of having a mini PC in the living room TV for the occasional PC needs, and running lower end party games from steam like Jack Box.

  • I do HL7 interfaces between healthcare systems. Almost weekly the same people contact me saying “the interfaces are down”.

Me: “Things are up, and messages are flowing”

Them: “But we’re not seeing updates in the other system”

Me: “Did you reach out to their support?”

Them: “They’d just tell us to check out side first”

Me: “We’ll weren’t actively sending messages”

Them: “But I’m not seeing the status change we documented”

Me: “What patient did you document on?”

    Them: “Pt XYZ”

Me: “Yup, we sent that message 45 minutes ago and the other system acknowledged/accepted it”

Them: "Then why arent we seeing it?

    Me: “Check with their support…”

20 minutes later, yeah there was an issue in the other system. This was a weekly conversation, same users, same applications, same results.

But my favorite variant of this conversation is the one where they eventually realize that the reason they’re not seeing data in the other system is because…the nurse never documented on that patient. Happened too many times
