Does Vibrant Visuals not use Ray Tracing, or do you mean the RTX mode specifically? If you need specifically the windows 10 version, you could try WinApps or WinBoat, but I’d be surprised if you don’t take a significant performance hit. If graphics in a voxel game are what’s holding you back, I guess the meme is relevant.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Facing problems using Bazzite for software development
3·4 days agoI’ve had decent results running jetbrains IDEs from a Fedora Toolbx, probably doesn’t have to be fedora though. You just have to start them from a toolbox terminal.
You can play the android version in desktop mode with the Unofficial *nix Launcher.
A lot of people are afraid of non-standard letters.
It’s not that the program you’re running is malicious, but that it has an exploitable flaw. Because it’s a GUI app, a lot of things can touch it, which might be something malicious or something with another exploitable flaw.

Linux@lemmy.ml•This is the only Windows thing left on my computer
8·2 months agoWow, Win98 logo and media buttons? Truely between eras.
I actually like the context key above the arrow keys, another method of effectively right-click is nice. Those Win keys are crazy though, that’s the perfect place for extra function keys. Imagine having f13 & f14 that you can bind to anything without worry!

Linux@lemmy.ml•7 years later, Valve's Proton has been an incredible game-changer for Linux
2·3 months agoThere was a lot of work done behind the scenes to make sure that all those systems still worked. Probably too much, but it did work.
Interesting that the dagger shares it origin with the division symbol (÷).
That’s a pretty good beginner project. More characters, more stages, and more gimmiks leaves plenty of room grow, but still something to be proud of early.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Does this mean 6.5 KDE Plasma will support pip any window?
3·4 months agoPlasma lets you pin any window to be always on top (short of fullscreen apps), and you can set up rules to automatically set that behavior for any pip window.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What helps people get comfortable on the command line?
10·6 months ago‘ls’ is an abbreviation for ‘list’, not an acronym. Like copy -> cp, and the other keystroke saving abbreviations.
Ah, so now I have 7 workspaces that don’t survive reboots! Wonderful.
Bookmarks would be easier at this point.
Not when window history in only 3 windows long. That deletes 90% of my tabs instantly.
Managing that would be a nightmare too. Good luck alt-tabbing to the one you want.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Which areas of Linux would benefit most from further standardization?
3·8 months agoThis would also be nice for atomic distros, application space and system space could be separated in more cases.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Apparently, 12% of Technology Workers Believe that MacOS is based on Linux
6·9 months agoThat compatability has been dropping recently, especially for games. Most of my CD games need extra libraries to run now, if they work at all.
When I first got into linux, I was having trouble with sound issues, and my track pad had pointer acceleration and was always the wrong speed.
Wayland apparently had a fix for the trackpad settings not taking, so I switched to logging in with Wayland before it was the distro default, and almost all of my problems disappeared instantly. The only real issue I had then was screen sharing, which is fixed now.
X11 has only given me problems. I’m sure it was great at one point, but it certainly did not back me up.
