As a Gen Xer, I would agree. When we had games, you had to figure it out. From there, it just got harder and harder until you died. No pretty graphics, no saves, no easy mode.

In a job interview I asked a CIS grad what the steps are to compile something on the command line and they had no clue. If it’s not “sudo apt install” they are lost.

It’s similar to geocaching and Pokémon Go because you have to visit the location to interact with it. There is also a whole team aspect.

I’ve recently switched from Geocaching to Ingress. It has very similar benefits and doesn’t require digging around a bunch of ivy.

After 20 years on vi/m, I recently moved to vscode with vim plugin and I have to admit… I really like it.

You are a lucky person! I also work in tech and have been in the industry for over 25 years. There is so much racism, sexism, and discrimination it’s unbelievable.

Sadly, it seems like it’s getting worse, not better.

Just having better options for the next presidential election would be a step in the right direction.
