Run Multiple Services silly. How do you think Spotify, Netflix, and all these other goofy things operate? I think it is the obsession to locally host your own services and compartmentalize things so things don’t all come crashing down at once. It totally makes sense to me. And I don’t even think it’s masculine. I think chicks would even dig it too. I think they do actually dig it. I think you’re just told as a female that that’s just not for you. And some resist. No subscription for me, thank you very much. All these major tech-bro companies have blood on their hands. And what they do is nothing special.

Linux@programming.dev•Linux Foundation Report Finds Organizations Embrace Upskilling and Open Source to Meet AI-driven Job DemandsEnglish

Nothing changed just leaned in
I deal with computers because if I don’t, computers will deal with me.
You don’t think Gates has sex parties and does drugs from time to time or at one point? I mean, are you following this dude around? How do you know? This is the problem with idols. We just kind of project ourselves or our preconceived notions of what these people are.
I second this… Good Value Assessment.
At this point, I mean, so many people have added to both Windows and Linux that it could be argued that these people didn’t even really invent these things. They invented a part of. I also think about grants, funding, and the materials used to make such things. So I guess what I’m saying is fuck both of these old dudes. Computing was going to happen either way. Windows is a military contractor. Windows has killed many poor people. No gods, no masters. Kill your idols.

Linux@programming.dev•Must fight temptation to buy an overpriced raspberry piEnglish
1·6 months agoAlso, there are so many clones out there. I think now we’re at maybe around four different brands you can choose from other than Raspberry Pi. And these prices are just inflated, absolutely inflated. Like price gouging. Like nonsense.

Linux@programming.dev•Australian tech publication telling average users that Linux is now the smarter choice!English
6·6 months agoIt’s in the best interest of these publications to promote the Linux operating system. Windows and Mac OS X is hostile to the user, to the very idea of computing and freedom. They are unapologetically monopolistic in nature. They need to be stopped.

5·6 months agoIf it wasn’t for Linux, these old computers would be useless. We need to remind them of that and not buy them for high prices. Beat them fucking prices down into a pulp. Your prices are too high you need to cut it. And not with baking soda but Common Sense. Don’t be a thot… Get these prices to drop

Linux@programming.dev•Must fight temptation to buy an overpriced raspberry piEnglish
4·6 months agoHave you looked at the price of these old dusty ass laptops online? Like, they want a fortune for them. I’m just gonna wait until they’re buried in Old Tech and then they eventually start selling them for cheap because I ain’t buying that. Orange pis are way too expensive and raspberry pis are just irresponsible. Peaks and valleys, peaks and valleys. All this capitalist innovation, but yet we can’t afford it. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing.

Linux@programming.dev•Need Help Switching Dad to LinuxEnglish
1·6 months agoOh my god, you are so lucky. I was in the same position as you and the fact that they don’t have any tech literacy means that the transition will be easier, but yet it won’t be because they have no tech literacy. Just keep telling them. “Remember, you didn’t know how it worked on windows or Mac. So maybe it’s you the user that are having difficulties. But yet I am patient and I am here to help.”… Switching cost is propaganda. These tech companies offer nothing but slop and ignorant users. Just remember to be patient. Take things one step at a time. I would also try to figure out a way to get remote access to his computer and do a FaceTime thing on your phone. And only do this like on the weekends when you have the time to speak to him slowly. The Elderly will just get frustrated and give up on it. Which I can relate. Shit, if I knew where he lived and I was close enough, I would just, you know, compensate me, but I would do it. I think one of the biggest issues is understanding how they use their computer and the services and the pathways they go about doing their business. Like, if they choose to close down the browser, instead of just opening a new tab i mean, lose the battle win the war. If it works, it works. Fuck it. One day, they’ll listen and then you’ll be surprised. But if you charge at them like a bull, it isn’t gonna help. Frustration, cognitive decline, leads to aggression. It’s gonna happen to all of us, hopefully we build a better world. wuraca52.kahetu63@murena.io

31·6 months agoI mean I don’t subscribe to any services and I don’t even pirate that much anymore. I just don’t give a fuck about anything anymore. Everything has just become so fucking adversarial and depressing. Like we have such a limp dick future. It is so depressing seeing the type of leadership in this world that you know, who the fuck needs a story for… I mean it’s just so sad reality. It’s such a shit show. The types of movies that people are putting out. I mean the music. Everything sucks. Like I don’t want to steal your garbage. I don’t want to watch your garbage. Like, there’s just nothing worth stealing anymore.

6·6 months agoIf Linux was introduced to me a lot sooner and I wasn’t such a jackass that had to play video games on my computer, I would literally have switched a long fucking time ago. I’ve used all operating systems at this point and Linux ecosystem is far better. What you can’t do on Linux is shit I don’t even want to do. Most of the time.

1·6 months agoI am repulsed by windows. I would just give up completely entirely on computing if I had to use Windows. I will go to extreme lengths to maintain my ability to develop and work on Linux. It is a real operating system while Windows is the virus. Also, Apple sucks.

What a handsome man.
