just pick one don’t overwhelm yourself with choices. testing out different software is part of the experience just be prepared for possible migration. currently I’m using hyprland and I’m happy with it but for Xorg/X11 i3 is a fine choice.

very inaccurate measure for piracy. for countries with average low uplink speeds most of them use hosting sites rather than torrent. this is basically a map of how good your internet quality of service is times your population.

also imo lemmy is basically reddit now (with the way .world is), with all its pros and cons. you cannot replicate something’s mechanisms to the tee and expect federation to somehow transform it into this otherwordly experience.

one positive thing i can say about lemmy compared to others though is that the small amount of content forces me to spend less time, and there are less reactionaries here than other places.

they would prefer you use their pirated software rather than using their alternatives. if you aren’t someone that would be paying for it anyway, this is the desirable outcome for them. stick it to them by abandoning their platforms all together.

ah classic mistake of installing AUR packages on manjaro. been there done that. check your logs and search for errors, it probably overwrote/deleted some xorg config that you must either manually add back or regenerate. sorry i can’t help further im a linux noobie but that was my issue when this happened to me.
