  • Yeah. Lemmy’s biggest strength (decentralization) has also shown to be one of it’s biggest flaws when micro-managing admins/mods turn their instance into their own personal fiefdom, inflicting their “justice” broadly and without discernment. I’ve been banned more here in under 2 years than on reddit for over 13, almost exclusively for voting “wrong” according to what feedback I can find, which is a a seriously treacherous practice in communities like these. I have no real sense of loss over it, but I do worry the Lemmy-verse will end up with tons of siloed off instances instead of an interconnected community if it goes on unadressed.

LDS former NASA engineer that makes silly devices and gadgets. Some interesting videos, though he’s big into the clickbait game. Seems at least relatively sincere in his push for encouraging interest in STEM with children, though he can be a bit “flash over substance” for my tastes. But he is better then a lot of others I’ve seen in that regard.

  • On the one hand, putting absolute faith into an llm and regurgitating anything it says as fact is just stupidity manifest. On the other, holding customers liable for their own shitty llm is hilariously duplicitous.

Maybe, if this is a known issue, LI shouldn’t be pushing this crap on their platform in the first place, yeah? But some higher up already fully bought in to the grift and to pull back now would be admitting they got dupped, which will never happen of course.
