Thank God you are not forbidding anyone from working on their own distros.
Can you elaborate on how we are going to get Ubuntu and Fedora developers to work on Debian and Arch instead? Are we going to buy out IBM and Canonical?

The highest (all 1s in binary) host address in a network (last octet in /24) is the broadcast address, it is send to all host in the network.

This is a Linux community not a professional art/design community.
I never said I had a problem in my AMD rigs either, but you obviously can’t read. I ‘ve encountered those issues on others peoples’ PCs that they asked me to fix.
You obviously have less experience in fixing windows’ issues since you think they do not exist. If you knew how to Google you could find many many people having issues in Windows, many of those remaining unresolved in some case even after applying either a manufacturer or MS provided fix.
I called you a kiddo because you use childish insults like PEBKAC, if you want to insult somebody do it in the open.
Kiddo fuck off. I 've installed them plenty of time as well, still it’s a common issue mainly due to windows update. I obviously fixed that as well as plenty of shit you probably either never seen or pretend you didn’t.
You can’t bullshit me man. I ‘ve been using solving peoples’ issues with Windows before I ever downloaded a Linux distro.
Most of the problems average users won’t see with windows is because they buy it preinstalled while they have to install linux themselves. So they 'll be spared being unable to install AMD gpu drivers on a fresh Win 10 install if they made the mistake of not installing them before connecting the machine to the internet and Win Update fucking things up.
However windows update will get them later. Windows start menu refused to work after an update on a friends’ pc. Or it will be fail to apply an update and failing with no troubleshootable information only to fail again on next reboot and again and again. Or explorer crashing hundreds times a second causing users to have a black screen after login.
You are technically right in that the average user will not use the terminal (or registry, or booting to safe mode), they will pay someone else to do that or cope with it.

It’s telling you are not even going to defend your points.
Windows being mainstream is not due to being easier to use or setup/configure (which the mainstream does not do) nor due to it being more robust or easier to fix (which it isn’t, plenty of guys make their living fixing windows issues, usually by wiping and reinstalling because documentation for most things in windows is very shallow).
It’s because the mainstream buys PCs and they are sold with windows

Sure AMD’s drivers have not been a crapshot in windows forever, DDU dance is not a thing.
Sometimes to solve a windows problem you also get terminal commands, or get told to change settings in the registry. But usually users download some random binary tool that claims it will fix their problem. They will accept any UAC prompt as trained to do since Vista.
Frankly you are comically biased.

They most certainly have this covered in ToS. IP law is not about actual creators’ rights.

Not sure since I don’t use a VPN. If they assigned a unique public IP per user they could just forward every incoming connection to the user’s PC.
If they don’t they need to setup some port forwarding rules.
If openVPN leaks IPs that’s surely a bug, if it’s specific to v6 you can’t use openVPN and IPv6 till the bug is fixed

Port forwarding is necessary due to NAT not firewalls.
It’s not that your router blocks new incoming connections at port X, it’s that it does not know which local client it’s meant for, since it’s addressed to the public IP that is held by your router.
With IP6 it’s lan client also gets assigned a public IP6 address (as there are plenty) and so the router receives a connection addressed to a Lan client and knows where to route it.

But visudo can use any editor if you set SUDO_EDITOR or EDITOR variables. If you don’t want to use vi(m) you should probably set EDITOR in your .bashrc and visudo and probably other programs will use your editor of choice.

So what does that mean? Did you expect Reiser to kill his wife? Do you expect this guy to kill somebody?

You do know Hans Reiser murdered his wife right?
It’s very improbable that this guy will also murder someone despite being an asshole. You should probably get your vibes re-calibrated if it conflates murder with flame wars.

Torrents aren’t a piracy technology. A lot of Linux distros, especially non corp backed, are distributed via torrents since its more efficient.

I think I had a Voodoo 3 at some point. Then a Voodoo 5 at the family PC.
Then on my own PCs Radeon 1900Xt -> radeon 4780 -> radeon 7770 -> radeon 480 -> rtx 2070 super.
Linus chose to move to the US as well to become a US citizen.
To be fair he never claimed to be an idealist.
Also he is anti Russian himself as he made clear in his first comment in the thread. So being forced to remove them is probably a bonus for him.

Does Russia invading Ukraine justify the US invading Iraq?
Though we are discussing individuals here, should we ban Americans in projects to maintain moral integrity?
BTW are you referring to historical (pre 1990) expansion as well? Because an American really shouldn’t want to go there.
Windows can boot and still be fucked. User can login and still be fucked.
Explorer crash and respawn loop. Taskbar not responding. Windows failing to update and still hogging every reboot. Networking settings get fucked up.
Also booting and even logging in does not mean a person can actually use his computer for his purposes. OneDrive deleting your work files from your laptop can fuck up a guy on the go.
Of course these people are not part of a bigger organization that managed their machines, just like OP’s mom. If anything I would say your experiences in IT out you out of touch with most PC and even Windows users.
