The Steam Deck is $650 for the 1TB OLED version.
The Steam Machine reportedly has 6x the power and a 2TB version.
Why is $950 out of the realm of possibility?

For real! And you see all those comments about “Why isn’t it priced like a console?” and I’m like “My brother in Christ, have you SEEN console prices lately?” $600, $650, $700, $750, $800?
Handhelds are even worse.

I love all the articles going “It’s going to cost more than you expect!!!” and I’m like “Really? Because I ‘expected’ around $1,000…”
It’s like people haven’t been watching pricing in the last year or so…
Have you considered seeking professional help?

I’d think, at least for the existing Steam Decks, it would involve some kind of internal modification as well since they don’t do charging like this.
Well, from the Steam Deck tech specs page:
Processor
6 nm AMD APU
CPU: Zen 2 4c/8t, 2.4-3.5GHz (up to 448 GFlops FP32)
GPU: 8 RDNA 2 CUs, 1.6GHz (1.6 TFlops FP32) APU power: 4-15W
RAM 16 GB LPDDR5 on-board RAM (6400 MT/s quad 32-bit channels)
Then what we know about the Steam Machine, also from the tech specs page:
CPU Semi-custom AMD Zen 4 6C / 12T up to 4.8 GHz, 30W TDP
GPU Semi-Custom AMD RDNA3 28CUs 2.45GHz max sustained clock, 110W TDP
RAM 16GB DDR5 + 8GB GDDR6 VRAM
See how they run on the Steam Deck and then consider the Steam Machine is apparently 6x more powerful.
Baldur’s Gate 3:
Clair Obscure:
Cyberpunk:
Jedi Fallen Order:
Jedi Survivor:
Transport Tycoon Deluxe:
I can see unplugging the Raspberry Pi in the bedroom and replacing it with the Steam Machine.
I mean, I find my Steam Deck powerful enough and this is, what, 6x over the Steam Deck?

I could deal with the text size, but the controller mapping was a pain.

A) to see if it could be done.
B) I wanted to see if/how Destiny 2 runs on Steam Deck and it requires Windows. Running it in a compatability later gets you banned.

I can dual boot my Steam Deck with an external Windows 11 SSD. I expect I can do the same with the Steam Machine.
Usually I see them because there’s a super flaky user who creates new accounts, makes a bunch of posts in a variety of groups, then self deletes their account for some reason orphaning their posts.
So I get to remove a bunch of otherwise worthwhile posts because the user killed their account. Not sure what they think they’re accomplishing.
I think it drops off after a week? Yours was created on the 8th, so sometime after the 15th?

Sure I could see that being a Microsoft problem, but a bad app is not a Windows 11 problem.
That’s like saying nobody should use Linux because of the Shai-Hulud worm.

The Mailbird issue isn’t really a Windows problem either.
But I’ll totally give him the OneDrive bullshit.

Won’t help with titles like Destiny 2 which require Windows.

Flashlights.
800 Euros is $930 US which is probably close to reality, but the problem is gaming pricing as a rule looks at the number as being comparable without conversion.
So you get sillyness like the PS5 Pro launching at $699 US but £699 and €799. Even though that conversion comes out to be $699 $937 and $930.
I could see them launching at $1,000 US and then trying to go “Well, that’s the same as £1,000 or €1,000” when it’s not.
