They work fine these days. Thunderbolt is much more mature now and Linux has always supported pcie hotplug. It can get weird if you unplug it in the middle of doing something but just dont do that.

Maybe if it didn’t read like the rant I hear from 10 different people a mont about how they used Wireshark to prove they were compromised without providing any real evidence.
