You and I know thats true and piracy in some cases is shown to increase sales because people decide its worth money and/or talk about it more. Heck some people pirate things they already own just because they’re too lazy to find the copy they own.

Their (incorrect) logic is that if you were pirating you weren’t purchasing their content anyway.
People desire to put things where you wouldn’t expect them a lot. I grew up in southeast US and when my grandparents would visit (vegetarian their whole life cause Hindu) would visit it was a nightmare to go out because even things like collard greens would have pork added. Lard is/was a common thing to fry with as well. We all know McDs made fries in beef tallow originally, the switch to vegetable oil in 1990 was nice for them.
It’s colloquial for a reason, convergence, misuse, or whatever I would say most English speakers would not know the logical fallacy. Maybe as something for people who do debate clubs/class but unlikely for others.
“Begging the question” is a logical fallacy wherein “the speaker assumes some premise that has not been demonstrated to be true.”. However, “begs the question” is used more as where something creates a question.
So by the original “because the earth is flat the planet is not rotating.” You assume the earth is flat to justify your point of no rotation. Whereas the common usage “the flat earth theory and other science conspiracies beg the question of why people don’t drop dead by forgetting to breathe.” Flat earth theory created questions about human intelligence.
Scihub if its before the last few years. Otherwise email authors and/or post a link on a science forum asking if anyone has a pdf to share.
The Webster definition is morally bad or wrong.
What morals a person has can vary and can be contextual as well so there isn’t an easy definition. Asking for that really detracts from the point. Which is more what are your morals and which of those are strongly held and which are weaker.
I knew it I’m surrounded by assholes!
Traditionally, Mineral oil + fragrance
Mineral oil is also known as paraffin oil and is usually a petrochemical derivative composed of larger alkane hydrcarbons. Fragrance varies a lot.
In English this is called swamp ass.
Nope, Google doesn’t care about search operators anymore. Hasn’t for a number of years. Have to use a different search engine.
Yeah, Texas industry has already been mentioning it’s worry for farming, construction, and restaurants.
Have you already been drinking? Champagne is the drink, Champaign is a town in Illinois.
Cardiac arrest is heart stop beating (e.g. damar Hamlin? The Bills dude the other year). This is when you see a flatline.
Heart attack or myocardial infarction means the arteries that keep your heart oxygenated get blocked, cardiac tissue after the blockage of that then starts dying. The heart is still beating (or trying to beat).
Couple of drunk kids managed to ramp off a curb and get their car stuck like 6 feet up in an oak tree. Right side up. Front and back of the car were both smashed in right at the middle points so they must have got more air. Not sure how they got the car out without cutting at least one major tree limb but they did. Tree was still alive and fine as of 2023.
I’ve done some karate, wu shu(gong/Kung fu), and Tai chi. Thankfully, my instructors never got into the BS of chi or Feng shui.
I do think doing the physical work without accompanying mental work is missing out on some stuff though. Your physical status goes along with mental status and vice versa. Whether you choose to perceive that as chi, chakras, or just plain mental control(what I choose) is up to you.
That’s an interesting take but with our term lengths that means a 15y can vote for president and senator but can’t vote for a house rep.
Does the podcast still have to be in English? And what topics are you usually interested in?
Paperback. I’ve sometimes waited for paperback versions of books after their initial hardcover release. Cheaper, lighter, same reading, I used to be less patient so would suck it up and get the hardcover, nowadays I don’t read as much so waiting is easier. I read a lot when traveling and hardcovers are just such a pain. The only “nice” collection I have is LOTR+hobbit.
I’m trying out an eReader soon but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get away from the desire of physically turning pages.
Being devil’s advocate here. I like to talk about my kid but I also know other people generally don’t care. You care about your kids its rare for other people, even friends and other parents. So idk whether just not mentioning them or caring about yours matters as to his actual dadness. I would also say that your friend may know he’s free those days for one reason or another. Maybe his wife has unreasonable expectations. The kids are always first but it is possible to make time for your relationship and yourself with some communication and luck. There are also often variations in which parent may be “primary” at times.
I have heard and seen some parenting things done that are well outside what I/we would do. Sleep training at 2mo, a sorta family pacifier (toddler would drop it, dad/mom would put in their mouth then back in toddler mouth), the cry it out method, being super stringent about feeding times and amounts, allowing rolling walkers, letting baby play at 2am, piercing ears, circumcision, etc. These babies are still growing up fine as far as anyone can tell.
Your friend and his wife need to communicate with each other and may be helped by couples therapy. You also need to communicate with your friend, judging him from a 2ndhand account by a person biased by their involvement and your own standards is wild.
