Learn for years? Dude you just search on the internet if you need to find out how to do something in the terminal that you don’t know how to do. This isn’t the 90s where you had to have a bookshelf of technical manuals to install and run your favorite distro.

Windows 2000 was the last good windows version.
All operating system elitism is stupid. Just use what you like and are comfortable using. I grew up on Linux and mostly use Mac nowadays.
It’s even sillier to make fun of someone for the distro they use.
When you’re a boring person and the only thing you have to be snobby about is your operating system I’m not sure that says anything good about you.
Slackware was my first as well. You really learned Linux using it. I probably rebuilt that drive a dozen times because I’d bork something and it was easier to reinstall than it was to figure out how I broke it in some new novel way.
Also not having a phone to look stuff up and having to rely on looking stuff up in books was hell now that I think of it.
