This might have actually happened.
When I first got a computer I had to put some OS on it. I’ve heard of this thing called Linux, and found about distributions. BUT, “flavors of Linux” was a terrible description.
I wanted the original.
Just pure Linux, nothing else. No Ubuntu, Mint, Manjaro, no, just pure Linux and nothing else than Linux.

I kept searching for that for quite a while. Kernel? I didn’t even know what a partition was.

eBay is pretty useless where I am. At least with their filtering. If only they included shipping in price filter.
Otherwise, the average item is along the lines of $5 + $50 shipping.

What if it’s something cursed like Proxmox on a laptop with KDE Plasma installed on host, NAT set up for VMs to use WiFi, passing wayland windows over waypipe through vsock and launching programs using manually created shortcuts which start the programs over SSH (because it can be done)?
