How are you selecting feeds to download? If you use a cloud/self hosted RSS service you can get a feed of articles you star. From there you can use a desktop feed reader to download the starred feed to your kindle:

1. Calibre can download news articles as .epub files, and supports transferring them to the kindle via USB. It can extract webpage text from non full-content feeds in a customizable way with Python.

2. KOreader’s RSS feature stores feed items as .epub files as well, but it’s not as customizable. It does support full text extraction, but you don’t get any options to customize the output as far as I can tell.

I’ve heard good things about the MNT pocket reform.

I just put DSL2024 on mine a few months ago, it works okay lol. Can’t do much more than use the terminal or edit text but it’s pretty fun to use the old hardware again. My only complaint is the zero key sticks.

It should! As long as you can get it to the bios screen you should be able to get it to boot a live USB. I actually resurrected my EeePC1005 two weeks ago with DamnSmallLinux2024.

There isn’t much more you can do to streamline that workflow for ebooks, though the default Calibre library filesystem of subfolders by author makes it frustrating if your library is large and the books author is towards the end of the alphabet.

My new workflow (which is my old workflow but it’s been broken since Calibre companion was bought by some asshole) is use syncthing to sync your calibre autoimport folder, then use the Calibre reading list plugin to upload it to your device next time it connects.

For my reading app I use KOreader, it will allow you to connect to Calibre as a wireless device and let you browse your OPDS server if you have it enabled. Also it’s available on basically anything.

I eventually intend to host my Calibre library on my server and run it through a reverse proxy so I don’t have to worry about being connected to my home network for updated, but that’s a bit further down the road lol.
