Is there a real technical reason why you don’t want Wayland?

That’s truly something lmao

That’s fair, some games are a pain to mod on Linux, or more cumbersome than it needs to be

Most games are solid now on Linux thanks to Proton. Most of the time if it’s Steam and it’s not competitive it works out of the box. Sometimes you need some post install configuration to make it run better (more common with old games), you can usually find what you need to do in the protondb website.

That, plus in the past there have been places in Europe switching to Linux and then switching back. It seems like many learned from that experience and they are following better plans to switch software over time (rather than replacing everything at once), but we’ll see

Hopefully not, if we take this at face value it’s about setting up the bureaucracy for dealing with issues related to using Rust in production, I haven’t been in the industry that long to know whether we should be alarmed but it doesn’t seem to be a move away from foss at least. The thing that worries me is that it may not just stop here.

As long as it’s just receiving money it’s whatever, we have lots of corporate sponsorship in the Linux kernel and in other components we use every day for computing. I wouldn’t move to a different kernel/OS just because I agreed on some ideological stuff with their makers.

Is there more context on the piefed.ca thing?
Try making the volume really loud, had some devices not working until sound was above a threshold, like an offset, for no apparent reason

How good/bad was it compared to the HDD?

They’ve been caught in the past slowing down old iPhones claiming it was to preserve battery health. I think claiming they definitely will do it is a bit much, but it seems plausible enough.

Do you have a proprietary requirement that you can’t handle on Linux? It works fine for me but also I’m not dependent on local proprietary tools to do my work so we may have a very different experience
It reads like reactionaries seeking each other for validation, so they MUST say every bit every time
