Since SUSE has its roots in Germany (it stands for Software und Systementwicklung) I think the German pronunciation would be correct which is a little different. Both S are soft and the E is short. Like “Zoos” + “Eh”.
Looking at the member list it seems like the foundation is supported by companies that probably only care for Linux as a server platform.
Wine had its own translation layer that would translate to opengl. It just wasn’t that good.
