(You don’t have to put their @, just say yes or no if you want.)
I got permission from her, so my GF is @PieInTheSky@feddit.online
Cries in doesn’t have a significant other
I tried to get mine to join, but my girlfriend spent a few hours here on a Saturday morning. She looked up my username, saw how much grief I got just for advocating third-party voting, and decided everyone here is way too extreme and hateful.
Which might be true, but she also played Grow a Garden on roblox while we watched the super awesome Charlie Sheen documentary on Netflix last night, so I can’t take her judgment too seriously.
Significant other?
no.
wife followed me to signal, reddit -> lemmy, and linux.
She got there on linux before me when her win 7 computer broke down and I reanimated her old laptop with linux (although a light version of ubuntu) I’ll be joining her soon; if you want me to use something debian based that isn’t Ubuntu studio, hit me up with recs in this thread : https://lemmy.world/post/35450797?scrollToComments=true
They totally do, that’s how I became a user :3
My husband is the PC gamer and I am the Nintendo lady but I am the only one here. I am also his tech support somehow.
somehow.
The barrier for entry between consoles and PC is basically identical at this point, and they’re both easy enough that anyone but infants and late stage dementia sufferers can access these days. I imagine only those with an interest in the actual hardware would be relegated to family tech support
Not sure if I agree with you. consol os’s are so much more simple than full a full desktop os, everything makes much more intuative sense and there are less complications you need to worry about. And of course you don’t need to spend any time learning about the different types of hardware and all the compatibility issues or if your buying prebuilt it can be overwhelming with all the different companies and selections. In the consol market there are 4 options really: ps5, ps5 pro, xbox s and xbox x.
Nope, she tunes out when I start talking about federated services. Just not something that captures her interest/she gives any real thought about.
No, but she “stalks” me here sometimes to see what I’m up to and I appreciate it, lol.
How do you guys manage to make a relationship work on different instances?
Everyone that isn’t on piefed.world is a fascist commie far-right tankie heathen.
Just reading your comments I know what the user name will be, keep it up my good fellow
What?
Can’t say my instance is any of that.
Honestly I rarely found any fellow instance user to be pretty logical
Nope, my wife uses Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Discord.
Can’t get her to adopt Fediverse equivalents.
I’d say I choose quality over quantity, but she mostly is in artist communities that don’t want to move off the old platforms. They say they were there before the crazies, they aren’t the problem, so they’re not gonna move, even if the people who own those platforms are straight up fascists. I couldn’t do it.
Yep. My partner is basically the same as yours here. Too many niche communities on other social media and unwilling to give it up in spite of the ideological issues.
I think it’s just harder for some than others. I was never THAT attached to social media anyway so…this is fine for me. If I run out of content on my feed for the day its probably time to log off anyway
We run quite a few fediverse instances together, so yes :)
omg it’s ada from matrix
💓❤️💞
Welcome!
Thank you!
(sorry, replied to the wrong comment)
Yes, she actually joined recently - I hope she starts posting too, her art is great and more people should see it. Not giving a handle for now because she’s shy.
He got an account just to spy me on here from time to time (I mean it in a cute way), but I don’t think he has any interest of actually using it, for now at least. He’s not really a “social media” person, Instagram is like his “main platform” but only because all his friends are there lol
He has shown interest in my “decentralization journey” (for lack of a better term, I guess) because we share similar values and he recognizes that moving traffic to popular social media websites like Instagram or Twitter is harmful because the parent companies are awful (less focus on privacy, more focus on environmental impact and political issues). Got him to use Bluesky instead of Twitter because of this.
keep being a good influence; get anyone and all that you can in the good fight against centralized corporate control.
Yep, but not on Lemmy. She uses Mastodon.
