My wife and I have our regular TV/movie watching time from around 9-11 every night.

Recently I’ve been working through some games on my Steam Deck (Pokemon GRAND Colosseum, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Control.) and have just really found that using a regular pillow to support my arms is just hot and often blocks the vents. Same issue if I use blankets, plus I feel like these don’t offer enough support.

All this to says — do you use a lap desk? If so, are you married to a particular type or brand?

I’m probably looking for more of a lap desk than a TV tray type thing.

Is it weird that I never, like never ever, game in bed?

Closest I get is in a hammock while camping I guess. For that I just use my XReal One XR glasses. Pretty expensive but it’s also great for plane/train rides and working on places too small for a large monitor setup

No, it’s not weird. Doing things like browsing on your phone, watching TV, or playing games in bed (or even just your bedroom) are known to lower your quality of sleep. You generally should only use the bed and bedroom for sleep and, well, the other thing.

The least bad exception is reading a book with a bedside lamp.

It uses the battery from whatever device it’s plugged into via usb-c. I haven’t noticed a big battery impact difference between the on board screen and the glasses. I have my ROG allyX (running bazzite) set up to turn off the on board screen when the glasses are plugged in.

They do get warm during long sessions, but not uncomfortable. Especially when compared to holding the ally up and looking down at it. You can rest it on your lap and look in any direction.

Not really imo. I only do so because my wife likes to watch TV and we hang out together at night in bed. I would prefer to chill in the living room, but she’s a bedroom person. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
