Absolutely gonna agree with OP. Art deco is absolutely amazing and 100% my pic.

I personally think AROS ( AROS Research Operating Syste ) is pretty cool. Same with just the basic Amiga Workbench 3 series ( the only one I have any experience with ).
Obviously Amiga Workbench isn’t daily driver ready, but neither is AROS since it’s, from what I can tell, just an Amiga OS passion project trying to make a more modern more open source Amiga OS.
Probably Sonic Mega Collection because it really got me into platformers and made me into a Sonic fan. Kinda solidified my taste in games a little as I’ll gladly take a family friendly platformer like Sonic or other titles like Ty the Tasmanian Tiger or Yooka-Laylee over an online PVP game like any call of duty because Sonic taught me to love platformers more, even to this day.
Also kinda solidified the fact that I’d rather casually play through a lot of games and not be that guy who tries to be perfect at a game. That caused me to get where I am today where I’ll play co-op in a game but avoid full-on PVP with a random group of people because I know they’ll mop the floor with me and I’d just end up quitting before giving the game a fair shot.
Maybe not quite that old, but old enough that the really soft blanket I got for Christmas was the highlight. Even over the real nice headphones I got that I’ve fallen in love with.
Though, I was recently thinking of getting myself a couple towels all for myself and was kinda excited at the prospect of having my own couple towels my family can’t use, so maybe I’m nearly there.
Just for the comedy that might ensue from how horrible of a president he’d be, my vote is Principal Dr. Cinnamon J. Scudworth with Buttlertron as his VP.
Either that, or if possible, as a slightly more serious answer, why not have someone like an actual scientist like Professor Professor from The Secret Show with Name Changed Daily as the VP ( or vice versa )? They already run a not-so-secret spy organization, so why not?
A lot. Though it’s hard to put a price on some things because they’re software for discontinued products ( old game consoles, Amiga software, etcetera ) and aren’t sold as they were, even if some of them are still sold for other platforms.
Despite using MX only for a relatively short time, just messing around in a VM for a long period of time would increase my odds of switching to something else*.
*when I need to switch to something else or find something a lot better
I don’t have a clue why we do MM-DD-YYYY and personally I hate how dates are done in the west, to a degree.
For a maths course I’ve been taking at college, I never use MM-DD in my notebook because that and DD-MM are stupid in my opinion. I always spell out the month first to ensure I don’t get mixed up. I honestly envy that some languages like Chinese and Japanese have an individual character to help distinguish between month and day.
Also, I would love if every country using the MM-DD or vice versa format could all agree on which format to use for everyday things.
I cannot recall any specific programs besides a game called Feudal Tactics, but I swear I’ve seen software while looking through EasyFlatpak that surprised me.
I got to start a furry visual novel I found on itch(dot)io called Promises to Keep. It’s not complete yet, but so far I’m loving it. The character art is nice and the backgrounds are pretty good and I’m really liking the music.
I am absolutely glad I randomly found it on itch.
The only reason I had my bluray player connected to the internet was because the yahoo who dropped it off at the thrift store didn’t bother signing out of their pandora account, so I could listen to ad free music. Otherwise I would never connect to the internet since all the old applications ( including a blockbuster app of all things ) probably wouldn’t even work.
Knowing this could happen, I will definitely be sure to completely disconnect from the internet the next time I turn that thing on since last time I tried using pandora it wasn’t working.
I feel called out. Should definitely make an alias or two that auto CDs me the amount of times I need…
The only time I have ever heard the word copacetic and only reason I know it exists is because of a song that probably only dinosaurs and hipsters listen to anymore: Bound For The Floor.
Other than that, I’ve never heard it used in any context. So I’mma agree that it’s definitely an old person word ( or a pretentious “I’m BeTtEr ThAn YoU” kinda word ).
They may be dead, but we still have some amazing alternative OS’s that exist that, as far as I’m aware, are still being updated. First thing that came to my mind was AROS ( Amiga Research Operating System that had to change the name to AROS Research Operating System ).
I personally don’t use it since I don’t use Amiga software, but it’s still really cool. Under no circumstances would I recommend it as a daily driver because any software based around Amiga is purely hobby at this point, but it’s still cool to check out.
If it isn’t able to federate to other servers and/or services, like kbin to lemmy and such, without 3rd party tools like the bluesky bridge thingamajig, absolutely not.
My bank app does the same and will most likely log me out if I end up switching to a different app. I don’t mind because I’d rather have that happen than have a stranger come up, steal my phone while unlocked, and be able to access my bank details (no matter how unlikely that scenario is).
To see the chaos, definitely some place like yt. Imagine you are watching an hour long video essay about something you love but you have to keep interacting with the website/app in some way that disrupts the video every 5 or so minutes or else you get locked out and require 2FA every time.
I imagine after a long enough time, the lazy people would just quit going and using their service all together. I know I would.
Specifically on Deck, I think I’ve been relegated to just Pokemon Rejuvenation, Baba Is You, and Gemcraft Frostborn Wrath.
I tried getting gyro controls working for Dolphin to play the 2 Sonic book based games, but I can’t figure it out with my stupidity and cannot find a used compatible USB or bluetooth IFR sensor online for the wii remote I can connect to my deck.
Yeah, looks like one of those gacha games, so I really don’t think OLED Deck or desktop Linux users are missing literally anything whatsoever.
I personally think smaller scale 2000s collect-a-thon games like Ty the Tasmanian Tiger hold up pretty well. Never knew that specific series existed until maybe a year or two ago and I gotta say, it’s pretty good and runs real smooth on Dolphin on my Steam Deck ( and coincidentally better than the legitimate PS2 copy I have ).
I personally also think the PS2 Star Wars Battlefront games still hold up well enough. Love the lack of monetization and lack of online play because I hate competitive play as a more casual player.
Those games are definitely pass my recommendation checklist due to the amount/quality of content, and/or replayability level.
Another couple games that pass that checklist would be Final Fantasy X ( I never finished it, but had been enjoying it all the way ) and Sly Cooper 1 ( due to the time trials for each non-boss level adding a good amount of challenge and length ). Both on PS2.
