  • My two biggest issues have been HDR and simulation hardware.

It’s been a good few years since I’ve tried it but every time I’ve tried HDR my saturation just gets cranked to 11 and it looks like those nature photos that are edited to hell and back. Not sure why, and I’ve heard other people got it working so idk. I think it’s just the Nvidia drivers doing their thing and not working.

But controllers for flight and racing Sims are the biggest headache to get working. And then when you do get them working you’ll have issues with games running well and detecting them (I think this is actually due to proton/lutris), issues with force feedback, issues with the various buttons and sliders that aren’t the primary axis. And then, after you spend hours getting them to work, it’ll just break again the next time you want to play. My sims and FPS games are the only reasons I still have a windows install.

  • the force awakens

My only issue with TFA isn’t the movie itself. It’s just that it sets up so much good stuff that the rest of the trilogy just doesn’t do fuck all with. There are some really cool story points, some incredible characters, and amazing acting. Then just garbage through the next two.

    Rouge One

Yeah this is easily the best star wars movies IMO. It’s hectic, and all over the place, and there’s a ton of characters, then it just all clicks together in the last little bit of the movie. No spoilers or anything but you absolutely need to watch this. I genuinely can’t over recommend this enough, it’s a golden movie. Then go watch Andor, its easily the best Star wars TV and there are a couple scenes id nominate for top 10 TV scenes of all time. It’s the prequel to Rouge One and goes over Cassian Andor (main character in Rouge One) story.

    Solo

I actually really enjoyed Solo. Its not super relevant to the greater star wars saga, and its not the most ground breaking piece of cinema ever. But its fun and enjoyable, just go into it with the idea that its “filler content” for the rest of them.

TL:DR I mostly agree with you

First, you should probably lessen with the therapy speak. This is a personal thing but the commodification of therapy is actually a huge problem that we should talk about. But I digress.

Second, maybe clarify this up a little bit? Are these people your roommates? Your upstairs neighbor? Downstairs? Next door? I genuinely don’t know who you’re talking about.

But (I’m assuming these are your up or downstairs neighbors?) I had a buddy who was in a similar situation where even the microwave beeping would cause the upstairs neighbor to thump on the floor. He just had to complain to the apartment complex a bunch (basically every time it happened, as it happened) and eventually they got it sorted. The upstairs neighbor stopped being annoying and moved out shortly after.

In an apartment you will hear your neighbors and it’s unrealistic to expect them to be perfectly silent all the time.

  • Ubuntu Server supports Windows Active Directory. I haven’t used it for anything but authentication (and authentication works flawlessly) and some basic directory/share permissions but theoretically it should support group policy too.

It’d be cool if there was a mainstream FOSS alternative though (there might be, I’ve done literally 0 research), but this works okay-ish in the meantime.

But for management of the actual production servers at work I use a combination of ManageEngine (super great and reasonably priced) and Microsoft’s Entra (doesn’t work well, don’t do it)

  • I actually just switched my tablet from a galaxy tab S8+ to an iPad pro. I use it for work a ton too so it needed to be able to keep up with me, and the iPad is enormously better in basically every way (except side loading which I don’t do anyways) than the Galaxy tab.

Plus its not even like the Galaxy tab was cheaper. It was like $200 less than my iPad and my iPad has cellular which is incredibly nice.
