This would make more sense with Emacs /ducks
Name calls people who read documentation.
Does not offer any alternative.
“No John, you are the neckbeards!”
Jeez, maybe the technican deserves a nice blowie, field work isn’t easy y’know.
I am the smug well guy in this picture. You can complain and whine about Microsoft’s shitty practices to people who have no way of effecting them…oooorr you can use a different OS. Kind of a “better to light a candle than to curse the darkness” deal.
Proprieatary software has become completely unusable, programs that would have been labeled adware and spyware are now being pushed by corporations as the norm. I use open source software in my workflow, but I am still hobbled by Microsoft’s awful OS.
Rooty@lemmy.worldto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•You install Linux to escape the user-tracking consumerism hellosphere corporate Matrix. I install Linux to install this neat lil' Audio Player that plays Animal Crossing music. We are not the same.16·3 months agoYou install Linux to run cool software.
I install Linux to run cool software.
We are exactly the same.
Affinity suite is dirt cheap and is a single purchase, none of that licensing crap.
The Windows ecosystem is an abominable pile of half-finished apps and dark patterns that should be slam dunked into the trash. The problem is in the leadership that is laser-focused on milking business users who are used to Microsoft’s abusive practices.
Why? The browser client is ok.
I use gimp for professional graphic design at my workplace, nobody gives a shit.

“Whoops I stomped on the MBR again, what are you gonna do 'bout it?”
Rooty@lemmy.worldto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Quick everyone, prevent a warning text or something379·5 months agoI’ve been hearing about Linux elitists for the last 20 years, and I have yet to meet one. But what I do see is an endless wave of trolling and bad faith arguments about the supposed complexity of Linux.
They treat a wide array of developers, maintainers and enthusiasts as employees of Linux inc, and now they’re grumpy because their imaginary ticket submitted to a nonexisting helpdesk is not being processed.
I have recieved much more help and support from the Linux community than from any other proprietary software helpdesk.
I like how the Linux user stereotype has changed from “greasy neckbeard” to “femboy”.
Try being a graphic designer or video editor. I’ve stopped running out of disk space and started running out of SATA slots on the mobo.
Blender is so versatile, and has so many applications that you have to end up with a cluttered interface. Since the alternatives have licenses that have a steep cost, I would say that putting up with a clunky interface is well worth it.
I understand the impetus behind RTFM - It happens when the user failed to do basic troubleshooting and expects others to do their thinking. Being blown off doesn’t feel great, but other people’s time is valuable, and in the end your system is your own responsibility.
Now only if there were a nice alternative to Android. I might get a Fairphone with Ubuntu touch.
