Long story short there is a dispute between my upstairs neighbors (a couple) and I and it has escalated to the point he is somehow attacking me from above. The situation is worse than you can imagine.

When I lie down in bed, I feel downward pressure pushing my head down into my pillow to the point where the back of my head hurts. My chin is also being pushed downwards and I can also feel pressure around my eyes. When I rest on the side of my head, there is pressure felt on my neck to the point I have trouble swallowing saliva.

While this is happening I can feel them moving around above me like they are shifting their feet. There are no sounds, however, except for the occasional floor creak.

This sensation is also similarly felt when I am working from my desk. Somehow my body is being pulled back hard, so hard that it hurts. It’s the same sensation as sitting in a car that has stopped and then suddenly begins moving forward. If I sit up so that my back isn’t touching the back of the chair, my body is being pulled back so that I am sitting back. It’s like a magnet is pulling me back.

This has been a recent escalation but for the past few weeks they were attacking me a different way. I believe they were using the weight of their body to shift from side to side and literally moving my body to sway side to side. At times they have done this when I am vulnerable such as putting on pants or sitting down on the toilet. This has caused me to lose balance but not fall.

My hypothesis is that since the floors are connected to the walls, which are then connected to the ceiling, it is possible to make movement felt by your downstairs neighbor. By leaning hard to one side, pressure could also be exerted - maybe?

What physics are at play here? Or could they be weaponizing some device perhaps a medical device. I mentioned the feeling of being pulled back like a magnet when sitting in my office chair.

There’s nothing for me to use as evidence if I were to go to the police. My only idea is to video record myself when this happens, but it’s still a long shot.

Pretty much every response you get is going to be telling you to go and see a doctor, because that is the next logical thing to do. You don’t need to tell them you think your neighbour is causing it, just that you’re feelling this imbalance, and describe the symptoms.

There’s a variety of things that could be causing these sensations, and you’ll need to rule out the obvious ones first.

Vertigo could give you these sorts of sensations, and can be triggered or worsened by stress, which you’re clearly feeling, as well as a variety of other medical issues, which your doctor should investigate. Things like an inner ear infection can be treated, but it could also be a symptom of something more serious, such as a mimor stroke or other damage.

Another aspect to check is your physical environment. Make sure you have a carbon monoxide alarm properly installed near any appliance that burns fuel, and also get your hone checked for gas leaks. Both can cause unpleasant effects, and both are very dangerous too. Get your electrics checked too, as something wrong there could also be causing an effect, like buzzing at a high frequency, the manifests itself in weird bodily sensations. Whilst you’re at it, check your neighbourhood for any new industrial or manufacturing that might be releasing noxious fumes. Walk around and smell for any gas leaks outdoors too, just in case.

If you’ve ruled out physical health concerns and environmental issues, the most probable cause is psycological. To be clear, this doesn’t make the symptoms any less real, or suggest you’re just imagining them. Stress, and it clear that you are very stressed by the situation with your neighbours, can manifest in a variety of unpleasant ways, including the sorts of symptoms you’ve described, and worse. Talking to a mental health professional would be a good step to helping you deal with all of this, even if it’s not a reaction to the stress of the unplesant situation you find yourself in with your neighbours.

Whatever the cause, I hope you manage to resolve it.
