Im so fucking tired of my cats hanging around the food area like its a concierge service and be tripping hazards or constant begging fixtures that are just part of the area.

I bought an automatic feeder to get it in their heads it comes wuej it comes and its not entertainment anymore but its been such an impediment and i hate how much its become a source of resentment

I’ve been needing blood work done for literal years and I just keep putting it off or forgetting because I have ADHD. I am attempting to get it done this Wednesday because I have a doctor’s appointment next week. If I don’t get it done my doctor said I can’t get renewals on medication I need (including meds for ADHD lol) because the meds can cause all sorts of issues if you have high blood pressure or a high red blood cell count, etc. Womp.

If you’re open to an idea for your cats, what I’ve done is condition my cats to expect that they will be fed only when a specific alarm tone goes off at 5pm and at 9pm (my wife feeds them in the morning). I started doing it because they were whining for food at 3pm (2 hours early!) and it was so annoying, which seems similar to your situation. For best results, feed them immediately after the alarm and stay consistent. If you want to change the alarm tone later, go ahead, but expect confusion at first.

I feel the pain, my cat has taken to screaming about food any time we walk near her bowl. We even moved to feeding her in a silly high chair so she’d maybe associate us setting it up with food. She understands that completely buy still stands where her bowl was to scream.

I’m pretty sure my city is just putting cones on roads for fun. They don’t do anything to fix them, they don’t fill any holes, they don’t do any cable work under them or beside them, they just turn this 4 lane into a 2 lane at the most inconvenient intersection and then turn it back two weeks later.

I’m in a fairly antagonist relationship with physics. Not the academic discipline, I mean physical reality. Fucking gravity man. I’m also particularly annoyed by properties of water. So many spills could have been avoided if water didn’t adhere to surfaces. And I know, if water didn’t behave in all the ways that it does, life on Earth likely wouldn’t have been possible, but… my statement stands. I would have spilled far less if I never existed.

I’m changing bank, so I request to close my former account. I sent the request in march. I’m maybe at the 5th back and forth, there are still something missing. Document, signature, account number, etc… Yesterday I had to write an explicite request by hand, sign it and send it back to the bank.

Speaking of banks, my parents had problems with their old bank about 3 or so years ago that someone/somepeople/whatever were constantly getting access to my mother’s bank card. They ( parents/bank ) would just keep replacing her card over and over after the last would get deactivated.

Took a long while for them to decide to finally switch to end that bull, after finally taking advice to switch. Suddenly the card compromises ended basically immediately, which is how I know her phone wasn’t completely compromised.

It was frustrating because every time it was a thing of card got compromised, deactivated, and new card sent. Only to be given advice that fell on deaf ears because they’ve been with that bank they were with for a long time… as though they didn’t switch away from another bank they banked with for basically my whole childhood for similar reasons to the problem card bank.

Ugh I hate my commute. I feel like I was forced into it since I bought my home with the understanding that I would have a job with company A. They then sold my whole division right before my 2 year contract was up, and I had to scramble for a new job. I am grateful that I found a job with similar pay before my unemployment benefits ran out, but fuck I mourn the loss of my ability to WFH most days of the week. Some days it’s hard not to be bitter about what could have been if company A had their shit together!!!

Have you ever considered self employment? Starting a business closer to home (or from home) might be just what you need. I don’t know your expertise or interests, but if it suits you, it might give you the freedom and flexibility you need. My wife and I have been self employed since 2001, and we have been very fortunate to make it work well for the past 25 years. We spend every day with the kids, have flexibility in our lives and earn profits instead of wages. Give it a thought.

I’ve always wanted to, but couldn’t think of a single skill I have that could transfer to being self-employed in a small town of my size. I’m in education and my training and degrees all reflect that. My hobbies are tech, but this town is too small for a need for PC repair. The phone repair place just went out of business. I don’t have an IT degree.

While I appreciate that it works for your family, my education and skills are not compatible with that type of work. I literally don’t have the skills to pay my mortgage and hustle in self employment. The pivot would be more painful than the commute honestly, and have a much lower chance of success. I am glad that it works for you though.
