I feel like I’m witnessing a cliche here; an American discovering that other countries exist. Wait until they realise America isn’t the centre of the universe.

Did they watch Journey to the Centre of the Earth and think it was a documentary?
Serious question: if something is “finished” why would that spark removal. At some point a lot of complete programs will no longer be actively maintained but they are still useful and working.
Also, is there a way to keep copies of things like this? I know how to install via apt install, and whatnot, but that relies on an internet connection and a repo. I’m used to windows where I can back up the installers on my hard drive.
Windows started life as a window manager that you installed on top of MS-DOS. It has since grown to be much more, and I don’t think you can criticise it for that.
Also, changing the visual theme is their prerogative. They are not required to supply a “classic” theme, even though they did do that a bunch of times.
I get Lemmy is the bird around here, but if you’re going to bad mouth Windows, at least do it for the many legitimate problems it has.
Windows 8 was when MS were trying to break into the phone OS market to complete with Android and iOS. They wanted to have the “same OS” across phone, tablet, and desktop, which isn’t a terrible idea except for the fact you need to betray your entire desktop customer base to get there.

My favourite part of Linux cli is you only know you’ve done something when you get no feedback at all.
Theoretically, yes, but I suspect the manufacturing quality of SD cards is a lot lower than SSDs

Lol
“The best way to run arch is to have a second non-arch computer at all times”
I think that sums it up

I’ve got a couple of 10TB HDDs. Is that enough?

What’s the file size on that?
They really should have used the word “static” instead of stable. Stable definitely has connotations of functional stability, and unstable of functional instability.
I guess it means that no one here knows what Windows Debloated is and didn’t read far down enough to see regular windows marked as very easy to install.
I think they are talking HDD vs SSD.

You should check out the BBC guidelines for subtitling. They are really good and include preserving the intent of the program, avoiding ambiguity, and not spoiling jokes with bad timing.

Except they kill humans all the time.
I think it’s just easier to accept that there is an unexplained reason why humans can generate some kind of power that’s useful to the machines for something at some point between the winning of the war at the point of the movies.
Just ignore the fourth movie.

Was it? You were in an open environment and you could do the opponents in mostly any order.
Scratch that. I guess I’m think of post game when you can replay the battles.

I do mine from home assistant. I can leave location services, Bluetooth, and wifi, all on without worrying about battery life for the whole day.

Ok. I did not see what you meant.
I have a home zone that triggers things. I don’t think location services uses enough battery for me to worry about

Cell towers are not wifi, but I think I understand what you mean.
Reads to me like they are the “American ears” they are referring to, as if their world view is the default rather than the bias of an individual.
