I don’t care about curating some kind of online persona or interacting with any. This isn’t Instagram.

I don’t want random pictures being loaded when I just want to read articles, posts, and comments. This isn’t Facebook or Myspace. I’m not building a profile for people to look at. I’m reading and commenting.
They put extra burden on servers, apps, and mods. Someone has to be able to remove them if someone starts setting offensive pics like porn.
I like not being particularly recognizable. Treat me like everyone else that you don’t know.

I use an app that doesn’t show profile pictures by default.
I apply a user tag to anyone I want to recognize.
Voyager doesn’t show them, and I don’t really use the web version at all.
I don’t see it even on the browser version of Voyager, so I don’t think you’re missing out on anything.
